You may find this interesting: Barberry is not invasive here in the south due to our climate, and our soil.

It appears that the Korean strains are the ones that can cause problems.
The last year I worked for Jung’s we carried only a few varieties in the Nursery, so even back then they were starting to take it seriously.
Just check with your local DNR. If it’s not considered invasive, plant what you want where you are. :)
Or, better yet, start a program to ban the ugly, prickly shrubs in your state, LOL!
Great Nature shots! Never saw the Mama Tiger ‘eyes’ trick - but I’ll bet it works!
Copperhead? Yeah. There’s a REASON I live above the Mason-Dixon Line!
We have Bull Snakes that look JUST like Rattlers and every time I see one (which is every few years) I lose a year of my life, LOL!
When I was in the Army, I took a Land Navigation Course down in Louisiana. Had the ‘pleasure’ of fording a river that was full of Cottonmouths. I STILL have nightmares about that course.
*SHUDDER*
I thought it might be so; some things are invasive here and not there. Makes sense.
“Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 20. BLESSED WARMTH!”
They’re talking 30 degrees up here on The Frozen Tundra, next week. That’s shorts and sandals weather up here! ;)
You are most welcome!
Ah, yes, fighting Nazis waist deep in Cottonmouths... a VERY important war-fighting skill! ;-)
ROFLMAO! :)
I got my flowers and mushy card this morning. I’m good. ;)
How are you guys making out?
I saw the forecast for TX and LA.
Hard freezes, temps in the single digits, snow and ice.
I sure hope everyone has their tender vegetation protected.
It does keep the critters away and I have asked hubby to do it more than a few times.
Have seen a few of those at our botanic gardens in the spring they have a butterfly exhibit in the tropical greenhouse. They call them “clear wings” And so they are, amazing to see.
Collecting Valentines, are you? Me, too.
Will you be mine?
Neat picture. The first thing I noticed is a separate face on the momma tiger, the white ear points look like eyes and a massive head above. The shoulders are the ears. Now I can’t unsee it.
If it involves chocolate, I’m in!
I think I’ll just take off and nuke my whole property from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.
