all older cars are cool in their own way and there will always be an appreciation for them but a four door hotrod no matter what year will not bring as much money as a two door hotrod will...
A BAR will do some damage
The movie “Bonnie & Clyde” is on my favorites list.
I recall they liked Fords due to the V8. I also recall the flat head Ford V8 still on the streets when I was a kid. They had a huge drawback, that if ever overheated the block would crack. They were known for their durability in hot rodding. Chevy sixes would throw rods very easy if over rev’d. I know because I threw the rod on a 50 Chevy once.
I expected to see Dusty, Billy, and Frank inside.....
Bar?
They borrowed a BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle) from the Army to use against them,
that’s the first time i’ve seen that video...
thanks for sharing...
You’re welcome.
Flatheads were strong, cheaper to build, and quiet. They died away when highly leaded gas became widespread after WWII.
Unfortunately, the Ford flathead was prone to overheating, loss of compression, and burning oil. My hubby’s great-grandfather had one. He used to take our oldest kids for rides in it, until he died 3 years ago. My father gave it to a museum.
That bottom photo? A little bit of Bondo and some spray paint and it would be all good.
four doors is two too many
***
Definitely! Also a coupe is way cooler than the sedan. Give me a slightly chopped 33 or 34 5-window coupe and I’d be in one of my very few perfect dream cars.
It wasn’t me who said “four doors is two too many”.
I said I thought 4 doors on 1920s-30s were perfectly alright, if not preferable in some cases. I agreed that 4 doors is 2 too many on newer cars like the 55-57 Chevies and so forth.
My Dad bought a 33, 2 Dr; with outside trunk, in 33. It took our family(5) and small dog, from Miami to Lawrence County AL. every year till 53. Except 42-46. Before good roads 3 days, later 2 days. Luggage was place on rear floor, Bananas and Coconuts placed on platform on front bumper. A feature that these Fords had was an opening under the back seat(to access the Differential), When Dad didn’t want to stop, my two brothers and I used it as a urinal.
In 46, he replaced the fabric roof with a sheet of aluminum. It was sold, still running in 1955.
Apologies from an olde(85)man, for the rambling.
Thank God we have our memories! Would be horrible if we blank on the past, as is the case with some. Not that we’re ever done collecting nice memories! :) Thanks for sharing your story.
Didn’t grandpa have an Indian motorcycle?
From an era when outlaws could flat outrun police, (who had no radios), cross a state line or two, and just get a few motel rooms and hang out, while planning their next heist.///
Oh
So an era like the one Congress lives in now except minus the election fraud without consequence and using the military for political manipulation and intimidation .
/-)
Clicked on link and upon seeing her thought “She I the most beautiful thing I have seen this year”
Now I’ll go watch video
What’s a Holley Carb dad.....
Hotel rooms,no motels in those days.
