Gun control advocates 'confident' on executive action from Biden after White House meeting
The Washington Times ^ | 10 Feb, 2021 | David Sherfinski

Leaders of prominent gun control groups said Wednesday they expect to see substantive action from President Biden on the issue in the near future after a meeting with White House officials.

“President Biden is committed to taking executive action and working with Congress to put in place reforms that will keep this country’s kids and communities safe,” said Peter Ambler, executive director of the group Giffords. “Today’s meeting was a strong affirmation of that commitment.”

Mr. Ambler and other leaders met virtually with Susan Rice, who leads the White House Domestic Policy Council, and Cedric Richmond, director of the White House Office of Public Engagement.

Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action, said they’re “confident” about seeing executive and legislative action in the “near future.”

The other groups represented at the meeting were Brady and Everytown for Gun Safety.

“We are pleased that the administration recognizes the gravity of this issue and look forward to continued discussion with and actions by the administration to begin confronting the ever-present threat of gun violence that claims over 100 lives a day,” said Kris Brown, president of Brady.

The Wednesday meeting included talk about violence intervention programs, background checks, and banning homemade “ghost” guns, according to the White House.

Some gun control advocates have been frustrated with a lack of early action after Mr. Biden campaigned aggressively on stricter controls like expanding background checks and banning military-style firearms like the AR-15.

Executive action applies to the Executive Branch.

If Biden wants to protect “kids and the community”, he’d leave law abiding patriots alone and support the police.

I plan to studiously ignore any “executive action” on guns by the Joepedo.

“Together we can institute policies that keep all Americans just as safe from gun violence as those lucky few are who live in Baltimore, MD, Chicago, IL, and Camden, NJ.”

If anyone ever needed a certified and rock solid example of authoritarian idiocy, we see it here. This from the party whose policies and doctrines have resulted in skyrocketing gun violence and murder rates in virtually all the urban areas under their control. To talk about safety is for them to reach new territory in hypocrisy. America will suffer because of this.

Just say you’re antifa, BLM or New Black Panther member which should be easy because you can “identify” as anything you want... Better yet be a Capital Policeman” emphasis on “man”and no issues with guns.

2nd amendment is an issue that hurts the Left. So I would expect them to wait until they could pack the Supreme Court. Admit D.C. and PR as 51st and 52nd states. Then make their move.

Shouldn’t that be King Biden is committed to taking royal action?

Executive actions, in general, stink. Presidents are supposed to carry out the will of Congress. Presidents, Democrat or Republican, are not supposed to make up policy on the fly.

Oh, wait. I guess I’m just stuck in the early 1800s. Let me correct my post. All hail the imperial presidency!

Depends on the goal.

If crime prevention is the goal, it is idiocy.

If crime encouragement is the goal, it is brilliant.

I was going to say a POTUS can’t repeal a constitutional right by EO, but then I read your post: Everything about this Biden occupation is illegit. They violated the constitution by circumventing state legislatures to change election laws making it much easier to ballot harvest. Right there the entire election should be declared void until those laws were reinstated.

But that’s not what happened, they continued to push the hoax even when the people rebelled at the Capital. And now that the coup was successful which also BTW resulted in the loss of our right to a fair election, they can pretty much do what they want now because violating the constitution has pretty much be “legitimized”.

If they start blatantly removing our constitutional rights with something so ridiculous as an EO, or whatever unconstitutional crap they come up with, I pray the military follows their first oath of enlistment to support and defend the constitution and removes these domestic enemies from office and takes them into custody otherwise all is lost.

The Democrats challenged President Trump’s EO’s repeatedly in court, including judge shopping.

Our spineless RINO’s have not fought back on a single Biden order yet. Probably will roll over on this as well.

Gun laws targeting the illegal use of firearms disproportionately affects the black community. Time to Burn, Loot, Murder again.

BATFE is under the Executive.
Some creative EOs could go far to choke out the firearms industry. Nothing “infringed” per se, but no way to practically function beyond homemade muskets either. Near nobody can make a gun, and feed it, to modern standards without being a big enough business that can be shut down by prohibitive regulations.

What really happened is they went in there and told Biden that another Executive Order was going to be laid on his desk to sign, and Biden bobbed his head up and down in the fake acknowledgment you get from someone who doesn’t understand what’s going on.
