Such a deal!

It’s smart. Honestly, if we wanted to lower air pollution, the best thing we could do is mini-reactors in marine shipping. Cargo ship pollution is WAY bigger than all automotive pollution put together, but no one wants to talk about that.
The public has been too brainwashed to accept anything with ‘nuclear’ in the name. The peasants will freeze in their huts while Bill Gates has his own reactor.
Faster, please.
Fusion energy is only thirty years away.
The Technology for Smmall reactors maybe available. But the leftwing anti nucleaar idiots would be against them from day one.
A battalion of Security troops would have to be stationed there to protect them.
I’m all for it.Though I don’t see Joe Biden,The imposter in Chief pushing for those small nuclear reactors even though they’d be much more productive then windmills or solar panels.
We should have started this 50 years ago. If we can fit a reactor into a sub or an aircraft carrier, we can have them for power production in general use.
You can put ‘em close to the point where energy is consumed rather than having to pipe the power in via transmission lines.
A little to big to install in the 100 x 300 foot power plant that my little town is closing down, but the right size to go on the outskirts of town. It would have been nice if the 2d article you linked to had provided the size on the ground needed for it.
This pitch has been round for decades; sounds great until the karens, the condo associations, the busybodies, the environmentalists put the kabash on it once again - better to suffer in the dark than glow in the dark they say.
Serfs didn’t own the firewood they chopped to keep from freezing to death in ancient and medieval times. If we are to return to kind of a Super Feudalism, under the Trillionaire Aristocracy, then we will own no reactors, either.
Piss on nuclear power ....GAS heating water in order to spin a turbine / generator is the way. Since I really looked into the dilemma of dealing with spent fuel rods I have been against this electricity generation system. It doesn’t get much easier than boiling water to make steam than with a gas / natural gas flame and a boiler.....K.I.S.S. rule .....I have always been amazed at how much natural gas is burned off while drilling...I do welcome any Freepers to quell my angst about spent fuel rods and the radioactivity life they have?
Toshiba was offering a small nuclear reactor about a decade ago. The idea was to provide a plug and play solution for remote areas (e.g. Alaska). I never heard what happened with it.
Someone could invest a perpetual energy development system that ran off ‘good intentions’ and provided enough power to run the whole world, power every car, and purify enough drinking water for the entire population. Eco watermelons would still ban it.
We’ve been hearing about mini-nuclear reactors for fifty years now, and we still don’t have them.
Not to mention flying cars!

That could finally make the Plasma Cannon portable. ;-)
There is a HUGE difference between SMR (Small Modular Reactors and MSR (Molten Salt Reactors).
SMR’s use OLD SCHOOL FUEL and preserve huge profits from today’s fuel cycle. SMR’S also can’t work at close to atmospheric pressure.
MSR’S at or close to atmospheric pressure, the fuel is mixed into a salt. The units are walk a way safe, are self regulating and CANNOT MELT DOWN.
