2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is on its way to dealers now

And the 2021 Mustang lineup as a whole is here with a handful of changes.

Rejoice, pony car fans. The first cars from a limited batch of 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 models is now on its way to dealers, the automaker said on Thursday. The Blue Oval said the first cars left the assembly plant and are en route to dealers as you read this, plus it detailed a few other changes to the 2021 Mustang.

We already know the whole story surrounding the bridge-building Mustang Mach 1, but those shopping other ponies will find some changes. For instance, the latest Mustang Shelby GT500 now features an optional Carbon Fiber Handling Package. As the name implies, it adds, well, carbon fiber and more handling gear. Specifically, the package bundles 20-inch carbon-fiber wheels, adjustable strut top mounts, a Gurney flap and more.

For both the standard Mustang and Shelby, buyers can also choose to coat their cars in new Grabber Yellow, Antimatter Blue and Carbonized Gray Metallic paints. The Mustang Mach 1, meanwhile, introduces its exclusive Fighter Jet Gray hue. These aren't major changes, to be sure, but it's always fun to see Ford updating the color palette to keep the Mustang fresh. Grabber Yellow, in particular, looks quite good.

The official build and price tool is live for all Mustang models as of this morning, so you can click through and build your dream 2021 Mustang, should you so desire.

Only if you don’t care about performance, comfort and safety!

Not necessary. I prefer to own a classic as a piece of nostalgia from when I was a kid growing up.

I wonder if the 2020 Stang will be a classic in 2070?

Not anti Mustang but they are like the WV always keep the same basic design.

The purpose of a Mustang is a traditional car w/ rear wheel drive, v8 engine and a coupe body style. Those are the basic parameters. If you change any of those you no longer have a mustang.

“Then right behind it was the gorgeous red and black 2014 GT-350 Cobra forsale. 800 hp.”

GT-500? No 350 in 2014. 800 hp would be after-market parts/tune.

Shelby. Ford cannot use Cobra term.

” v8 engine”

First Mustang was in-line 6. Later base car was V-6. Now base is 4 cyl.

Just sold my 2020 C8 Corvette Hardtop Convertible.

Looking for a new Pickup Truck now. The way things are going I figure it’s time for a more “useful” Vehicle.

I love Cars but the thrill is gone. To be frank, after that SOB Joementia was Selected I find myself not enjoying things like I used to.

I waited 15 Months for my Corvette to be built and when it finally got here in mid November all I could thing about was maybe I should sell it before the shit hits the fan.

Too much money tied up in it. Made a $10,000 dollar Profit flipping it so no complaints.

Even being a Corvette guy I always liked Mustangs. Owned a few over the years. I would kill for a 68 Mustang Fastback.

It could have been a 500, it’s been a few years.

But it did have the snakes. Which is why I said Cobra.

It had a large display stand next to it with all the stats like the HP as well as the track MPH.

I sat down in it and was like oooOOOOoooo hehehe!

I do know that you can order Mustangs from Ford that are custom builds. This one was owned by a “rich industrialist” in California that had a warehouse full of exotics. The sales guy told me it was being sold on consignment. The owner had driven it exactly twice and parked it. So he gave this dealership the rights to sell it.

The data for the 2021 Mach 1 isn't really out. I'm sure it's fast but $52,000 fast? We know it weighs about 400 lbs more than a C7 Corvette while only making 20 more HP and 45 ft/lbs less torque. Corvette power to weight: 0.1336 hp/lb; Mach 1 power to weight: .1247 hp/lb. Corvette has the advantage.

We know the C7 tops out a ~190 mph and Ford has to govern the Mustang down to around `165 mph because it can't handle 190 mph. The 0-60 times suggest that the C7 corvette hits 0-60 mph ~3/10 of a second quicker than the Mach 1 although that's reported, not verified. 7 year old Corvette wins 0-60 regardless as well as top speed.

Quarter mile is where things get really sketchy.

C7 Corvette: 12.2 sec @ 117 mph

Mach 1: nobody is saying.

2019 Mustang Bullitt (rated at 460 HP): 12.6 sec @ 115 mph

So it looks like when comparing bone stock vehicles, the 7 year old Corvette beats the brand new Mustang Mach 1 in every aspect. Here is a 2014 C7 Corvette for $46,000. That's $7,000 less than the Mach 1 base price. That is clearly more bang for your buck. and with the 7 grand you just saved, you can buy a procharger for the corvette which will put you at around 623 rwhp and even then you still have $1,000 left for some long tube headers that will get you closer to 650 rwhp. That's like 760 hp at the crank compared to the Mach 1's 480 hp at the crank.

The 'Vette looks cooler too.

That Mach1 motor sounds awesome though and I'm sure as a couple years go by, we'll see what a few mods can do for it. But, as it stands now, if you want to go fast like Ricky Bobby, the C7 and even C6 Corvette is the most bang for your buck.

“C7 Corvette: 12.2 sec @ 117 mph”

LOL!

Hotrod got 11.83 seconds at 119.51 mph from stock GT! Less than 4.0 0-60. Probably 15k less than your vette!

The Bullitt is 480, not 460 and Ford will surely put the Mach 1 out with more than the Bullitt.

The 2014 C7 base was $53k in 2014 dollars.

“Ford has to govern the Mustang down to around `165 mph because it can’t handle 190 mph.”

Big difference is drag.

OK but 161 speed limiter for Bullitt is easily reached. How much more? Not much as you have to shift into 5th.

Unless you are on the track top speed is meaningless. And I sure wouldn’t push a 7 year-old $46k car to 190!
