Raising the steaks: World's first 3D bioprinted RIBEYE STEAK that's 'just as tender and juicy as one you'd buy from a butcher' is unveiled The 3D bioprinted ribeye steak is real meat but requires no animals to be killed Cells from a swab are grown in a lab and then used to create the replica meat No price has yet been revealed for the ribeye and it could be three years before it is commercially available E

A juicy ribeye steak is a treat for many, but meat eating is increasingly falling out of fashion due to ethical and environmental concerns.

Now, an Israeli company has revealed the world's first ever 3D bioprinted ribeye made with real cow cells, and it is completely cruelty and slaughter-free.

Scientists took swabs from two cows, cloned and grew them in a lab, and pieced them all together to form a replica steak.

Aleph Farms, the company behind the 'Frankenstein dish', says the harvesting of cells is no more painful or invasive than a human doing a cheek swab.

Cows that give their cells to the process are not killed, but the product is real meat, posing a conundrum for some vegetarians who choose the diet because of their environmental or animal cruelty concerns.

Aleph claims the lab-grown meat offers the same delicious and juicy attributes as an authentic ribeye bought from a butcher.

Soylent green could be created with this type of technology for sure—just a few human cells.

How long before restaurants very quietly go there...

Has the author looked around and noticed the proliferation of steak houses?

Bio-printed!?? What does this mean?

Think Star Trek when they pushed a button to get their food. This is actually good for space travel. Everything has to have a start but like the vaccine, I will wait until version 20.0 before partaking in a bio-printed steak.

The beef I have at my house is excellent, I still remember how happy my cow was meeting all the new cows at the slaughter house.

But if Lefties want to eat less beef, then it’ll be cheaper per pound for me. Go for it little Lefties!!

Educate yourself on the Law of Suppy and Demand. The less people demand beef the higher the cost will go not the cheaper it becomes. Unless you raise your own on grass finished beef.

Not in my house. We’re just not all that environmentally concerned and I guess since we supported Trump we have no ethics either.

Bio-printed!?? What does this mean?

Perhaps extruded thru a die like that fake Japanese crab meat.

Interesting that fish and turkey are both flatlined pretty much - that surprises me. I would not have expected that. Turkey burgers if prepared right are very tasty - not sure if they are any healthier. And I would have thought things like grilled salmon would have been increasing in popularity as an alternative to steak.

I like turkey burgers. If you have an Aldi's nearby they have an 85% lean ground turkey in the frozen section. Frozen in one pound package $2. This has enough fat to make a good burger. In the fresh poulty section they have unfrozen ground turkey that is 93% lean. Must have more breast meat in it. It's also good. Ketchup is good on turkey burgers with a raw onion slice. Turkey is very efficient at converting feed into meat. The Israelis are very big on turkey. Turkey over chicken any day of the week! Turkey drumsticks are also delish. I remove the skin then simmer them slowly.

This meat is good in a red sauce spaghetti dish.

The two incubators mimic the conditions inside a cow to produce the most accurate cells possible.

Four different cells are created — support cells, fat cells, blood vessel cells and muscle cells — which then become the ‘ink’ in a custom-built 3D bioprinter.

Or, you could buy a calf and let it graze on grass.

Resist!

Serve only OEM flesh.
Accept only the real thing. No substitutes allowed.
