Here are two reasons:

• Marijuana criminalization does less to reduce use than to enrich violent criminals, with all the ills that entails.
• An adult's use of marijuana is in and of itself none of your, my, or government's business.

Back before they decided to make the stuff legal, (and profitable along with taxable), there was only one rule to break. Now that they have introduced this hallucinogen they complicated its freeing with rules to use it because of the inherent dangers of its use. So they didn’t do anyone a favor by allowing the public to play with it. It changes from a recreation to a danger. And the species of man currently has proven their ingenuity to push the laws established for everyone’s protection just to see if they can get away with it.

Hence, to keep people with little of no intelligence from harming others, they have to enforce those laws that were pointed at it. Otherwise, people are going to die.
