I was visiting friends in Chicago last year at about this time and we were watching the local news broadcast. Suddenly, what I was watching slapped me in the face. The reporters in the studio would take us to reporters in the field that would interview city leaders and victims, witnesses from “off the street” on various stories about government, crime, etc.

And this is what slapped me in the face: It felt like I was in Wakonda. With the exception of one Asian guy, every single peson was black. From the elected and hired government representatives to the “man on the street people being interviewed, they were ALL black.

That was just weird. I’m not implying that it is good or bad or anything in between. It was just a stark observation.

The only non-blacks in the video appear to be two staff members.

Chicago is now down to about 31% black (down from a peak of about 44% 40 years ago).
