There was a lot of history made at the Super Bowl last night for Tom Brady, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and halftime show headliner The Weeknd, but Nielsen today are making some history of their own.
As America waits and waits on the viewership verdict, it appears at this late hour that there will be no ratings for the Big Game any time soon for the first time ever.
Literally becoming the new definition of the phrase “You had one job,” the long-time data measurement company has nothing to report on the Buccaneers 31-9 win over former reigning NFL champs the Kansas City Chiefs on CBS yesterday. Fast affiliate ratings may be available early in the AM tomorrow, I hear. However, as a well-positioned network source said, “that’s anyone’s guess at this point, isn’t it?”
The problem seems to be incorrect metrics that have caused Nielsen to “re-process” their data. A spread sheet of ratings information did go out earlier Monday, but was quickly recalled. Throughout the day, networks were told that numbers would be coming soon, only to be told that the release time had been pushed back again.
“It looks pretty certain there will be nothing tonight now,” said another network exec to Deadline on the delay. Usually unadjusted early numbers for overnight ratings are distributed to network clients around 8 AM PST. Around that time today, Nielsen made it known that nothing was coming down the pipe until at least 11:30 AM PST.
On that and the overall unprecedented delay on the big draw on TV, Nielsen did not respond to requests from Deadline on the matter. We will update if we hear from them, or when the Super Bowl ratings come in – whatever is first.

My wife and I watched the entire game from start to finish. The game was great and terrific, for we are Floridians and were pulling for The Tampa Bucs & Tom Brady. So...we were delighted at the games outcome. Congrats, Bucs & Brady!!!
However.....the rest of the Super Bowl activity, the lousy, TV commentators, the ads, the half-time show, the openly anti-American tilt of just about everything, and having a weak, half dead looking, illegal POTUS Joe Biden and his witch cheating wife babble at the game opening was both a farce and failure!!! For goodness sake, Biden could not even climb the stairs to get into the B747 “Air Force One”!!! Sickening!!!
And....by the way Uncle, Joe Biden, where are the $2000.00 Stimulus checks you and your fellow Democrats swore they would send out to millions of suffering Americans who have done nothing wrong other then continue to suffer from your mistakes and lack of effective action & leadership as promised from your Lie telling lips...Mr. Biden!!!
I went to two parties—one indoors with my in-laws who have now been vaccinated, one outdoors with friends after halftime. Had a great time socializing and eating jalapeño poppers, 7 layer dip, chicken wings, and wine. I declined to watch the non-national anthem, the halftime show, or the commercials. Ignored all that.
Yeah, but the real numbers have to come out. Advertisers aren’t going to eat too pay ad prices based on fake numbers, and if the real numbers get out to anybody, eventually they’ll get out to everybody.
At work meetings today the first question was: “How did you like the Super Bowl - did your team win?”
The answer was invariably - “I didn’t watch it”.
Have never seen that reaction in such large quantity in previous years.
The Super Bowl! Was that yesterday?
What? Are you serious? Just cuz the woman was black doesn’t mean it was the black national anthem. That is ludicrous for you to suggest that.
Didn’t even turn the TV on. Made a big pot of stuffed cabbages and played 20 year old video game.
Yes, TigerEyes is serious, because Alicia Keys sang that song that’s been dubbed the Black National Anthem, “Lift Every Voice.” The real anthem was sung by a black lady, but that is not what was being referred to at all.
Why do I suspect rating fraud?
So long as you are viewing on a server in Europe, Tuvalu or other foreign countries and you didn’t download it then you didn’t possess the file. No harm no foul.
If you do it enough your ISP might come sniffing around and block the website.
Super Bowl LV Starts With The Black National Anthem
It's been all over the internets today.
It’s also a little disappointing, but not at all surprising, that you would infer that I am a racist. Typical leftist move.
I watched a little only because Mahomey was exceedingly terrible.

In Case You Missed It: Super Bowl LV Kicks Off with Singing of Black National Anthem
"In Case You Missed It: Super Bowl LV Kicks Off with Singing of Black National Anthem"
Apparently the NFL needs to hire that surveying outfit that gave Biden a 17 point lead in Wisconsin a week before the election.
I had to ask - HERE - who won. I’m beyone tired of this perfect storm of wokeness, social justice whining, and Marxist political perfidity. I no longer wish to participate, and if there was one country on the planet to escape to that was free of this apocalypse, I’d be posting from you there.
Usually your thoughts are good thinking and common sense, together. IMHO...every one of the super Bowl ads was an insult to all Americans from start to finish. This was a tribute to the coming of George Orwell’s “Big Brother” I am glad and happy the Bucs & Brady won. Other then that fact, the rest of the NFL fiasco stunk to high heaven of treason & disloyalty, to the USA!!! Can’t wait to see how Nielson diddles and dabbles with the lousy TV viewer numbers.
they’re waiting for a 3am ballot dump.
There was an 11 PM water main break in the counting room.
‘Why Was This Even Needed?’: Black National Anthem Makes Its Debut at Super Bowl LV to Mixed Reviews atlantablackstar.comMany casual NFL fans were surprised to hear Grammy winner Alicia Keys singing the Black national anthem before the Super Bowl LV game.
(snip)
The NFL has already headed in that direction.
And if he thinks this just started yesterday ...
