Tell me more, tell me more...
Anyone who hates on ONJ is simply jealous.
I must admit I always found it weird that the Theme song to Grease was done in a disco style.
But the lyrics of their favorite liberal singers are just fine. Okay.........
I think Olivia Newton John died...
They're also making a prequel in the works.
John Travolta has aged well.
He even changed sex in “Hairspray.”
Nope
“I think Olivia Newton John died...”
Do you have a link to support that?
Rapey? I guarantee you that most of these “critics” would never apply the same standards to, oh let’s say, rap lyrics.
Amen! She is beautiful and so talented! and GREASE was about a past time, not 2021. Things have changed since then. Some for better, some for way worse!
Disco was the up and coming style during that time, reaching an on par balance with Hard Rock. Think of Olivia’s hit song titled “Let’s Get Physical”, inspired by the Jane Fonda Fitness tapes.
The Theme song may have been an attempt to catch the ear of the kids too young to know anything about music from the 1950’s.
A marketing choice to broaden the appeal.
From the comments:

“When they came for the greasers, you did nothing; when they came for the Pink Ladies, you did nothing; when they came for the T-Birds, you did nothing; when they came for the beauty school dropouts, you did nothing; when they . . . “
. . . And then they came for you and the rest of us, and it was bye-bye, Miss American Pie.
This’ll be the day that I die.
Hahaha, this is funny. I was in the ORIGINAL ORIGINAL production of Grease in Chicago, mounted in a converted trolley barn on the N.side of CHi. We opened early 71 (Feb.) and ran to early September. My character (Miller) was the one in the original production that had the hot-rod Greased Lightnin’-—my character was blended into the character of Kenickie by the time the show hit NY (very soon after we closed in Chi) and the ownership of Greased Lightning was given over to Danny Zuko-—both the NY/Broadway productions of Grease AND the movie were very tame stuff compared to our original, which was raunchy and profane : for example, one of my lines of dialogue was “Don’t laugh. A lotta chicks would give their right tit to ride around in that little number! “ (Meaning Greased Lightning) other lines in the song, which I sang every night were : Well, you know I ain’t braggin’, she’s a really pussy-wagon, Greased Lightnin’!’ and “You are SUPREME! The chicks’ll CREAM for Greased Lightnin”!!! So all this new woke appraisal of the entirely middle of the road Grease really comes off as ludicrous.
I know, you're probably right, but still, it was weird to me. Sign of those times, I guess, thank god those days are gone.
