Welcome to The Bicycle Thread. A monthly PING List for bicycle enthusiasts to share experiences, information and ideas.
Ten more days before it becomes moderate enough for me to start riding.
Lot's of snow in Berlin.
Thank You for the Ping and Post! ππ²
Too much snow on the ground to mountain biking for me.
However, show doesn’t stop this guy. Check out the Loam Ranger riding a snow bike. Jump to 6 minute mark where he rides the bike down the mountain at 47 MPH.

Rode 63 miles of gravel roads around St Jo Texas yesterday
. Took 61/2 hours and 4100 calories.. 4000 feet of elevation change with a 15 mph north wind. It was beautiful views across ranch land and what used to be Indian country.
But after 5 hours it seemed brutal.....but still fun.
I would have hit the second pillar of the ski lift.
I’m going to be starting a cross-country ride on Thursday on the Southern Tier Bicycle Trail from San Diego, California to St. Augustine, Florida.
Put a deposit on a Giant Revolt gravel bike this week!
Meanwhile, on Rouvy, I am finishing up the Tour de Stations challenge which is in Switzerland, and am finishing up the “Professional” level. I hope to be at “National Champion” by the end of March...
Whoa! Very cool.
Please add me to your Ping List.
Invent a snowbike...a bicycle with skis instead of tires..:-)
Watched the video on flat vs drop bar bike. Looking to get a flat bar gravel bike. Of course, at the moment inventory is nonexistent. My local bike shop can’t even take orders for the bike I want right now. Perhaps 2022!
I have a Soma San Marcos with fla bar Campagnolo components. I really like it.
Still riding my 97 Trek 800. 8.5 miles yesterday on improved city park lanes. 1 hour. But hey Iβm 80 years old.
Have you /Are you putting up a web page/you tube channel?
If not, how about posting some images here? I’m quite interested in the gear and setup of long distance cyclists.
thx
