Happy Birthday, President Reagan.
We sorely miss you.
What would he even make of these evil days?
"Our enemies may be irrational, even outright insane,
driven by nationalism, religion, ethnicity or ideology.
They do not fear the United States
for its diplomatic skills or the number of automobiles
and software programs it produces.
They respect only the firepower of our tanks,
planes and helicopter gunships."
President Ronald Reagan
Always loved your Freep name and feel the same way.
Just realized you haven’t posted since last March. If you’ve reincarnated, give a ping.
He’d fight like hell and never quit.
The pix on the calendar are always of Reagan, and almost always at this ranch. It's a great reminder of his life.
This month he is riding horses and chopping wood.
Such a fine man, he was our President. He made two major mistakes: Lebanon and the selection of GHW Bush as his vice president. We ended up with twelve terrible years after RR left office.
Best there ever was... Best there ever will be.
But Reagan was a realist and thought that was the only way to get the establishment wing to support him in the general. "I'd rather get half a loaf today, and come back tomorrow and fight for the other half". He understood that you can't get anything accomplished unless you DO get elected.
Happy Birthday Ronnie!
Boy, do I miss you. You don’t know how much. Far cry from Ronnie, Maggie and John Paul.
He was a genius of communication...in all forms. Not just the speeches everyone talks about, but off the cuff and small talk. All the way down to relationships. He never alienated with his talk. Genius. It’s how he got 8 years and a tag-along term, despite constant Congress opposition.
Regan was a devoutly God fearing man at his core. Most people don’t think of him in that way because he was not some pious/religious show boater (think of the fraud Carter walking around with some oversized bible). That was the foundation of his entire strategy towards the Soviet Union. You don’t co-exist with evil, you war against it and defeat it. His “evil empire” speech was given at an annual convention of Evangelicals. If you didn’t know Reagan was the speaker it would be easy to think from many parts of it that the speaker was one of the ministers attending.
