Oops, I forgot to click on ‘excerpted.’
It was self defense.
Why the DELETED would someone do that?
Tortoises and turtles are harmless things.
“Why the DELETED would someone do that?”
I know. Look at the photo.
He must be insane.
Drugs probably contributed.
Crazy eyes!

Have you ever met a Snapping Turtle? They are very aggressive predators.
Not saying that they deserve an unprovoked attack for being a predator but a snapping turtle can easily take a finger or two if you get too close.
She was only the size of a small apple.
It was a week before she'd even poke her head out, barely
Looks like the guy might be hispanic, so don’t go blaming him for abusing the animal, ya racists. /s

I had a female Snapper who came through my yard every spring to lay her eggs in the wetland on the other side of the ridge.
Sometimes she miscalculated and didn’t make it under the gate to up through the pasture and would get “stuck” bumping against the fence.
I picked her up and carried her to the gate so she could go on her way.
Last year, some nasty bastard nearly hit the concrete wall of the neighbor’s house as she tried to cross the road, just so he could kill her.
She’d been here as long as I have, 31 years, and never once acted the least bit unpleasant.
The sight of her, on her back, crushed and ruined on the side of the road, broke my heart.
She was part of our little hamlet and everyone mourned her death.
Why hurt this harmless critter? At the same time that I ask the question, memories of LE start coming back. Sometimes you just run into a worthless piece of crap disguised a human being. I’d rather live with the turtle over the scumbag that attacked him.
I stopped in the street and raced out to help a turtle across the road. We have nature areas in our community and I wanted it out of the street before the school traffic started.
Turtles are cool animals.
Thanks for helping that little one back to health.
The freak who abused that tortoise should be beaten.
I have stopped on the road a number of times to move a snapper across the road so that they would not get run over.
Every time they have tried to take a piece out of me.
I don’t hold it against them, it is a natural defense reaction.
You just have to know how to pick them up.
Then don’t get close to them. They’re defending themselves.
SPJNK.
##### I spent 2 months last spring rehabbing a baby Box Turtle who’d been smacked by a car tire.#########
Bravo to you and your compassionate work. We have many box turtles in our neighborhood. They are always at risk crossing roads and we probably rescue a dozen each summer. We take them to a nearby state park and release them where they will hopefully be safe.
When I read the title I suspected a rabbit had done it.
