The House voted Thursday to remove Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from her committee assignments, delivering a severe rebuke to the Georgia Republican hours after she said she regretted her past embrace of conspiracy theories.
The House voted 230-199 to remove Mrs. Greene from the budget and education committees, with 11 Republicans siding with Democrats. The move will diminish Mrs. Greene’s ability to shape legislation and work with other lawmakers, sidelining her just weeks into her first term in office.
Democrats said the move was a necessary response to counter the violent rhetoric and misinformation that helped foment the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, since GOP leaders declined to sanction her. Republicans warned it could spark future retaliation.

The 11 Republicans who voted in favor of the resolution are:
Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois
Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania
Rep. Fred Upton of Michigan
Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart of Florida
Rep. Nicole Malliotakis of New York
Rep. John Katko of New York
Rep. Young Kim of California
Rep. Chris Smith of New Jersey
Rep. Carlos Gimenez of Florida
Rep. Chris Jacobs of New York
Rep. Maria Salazar of Florida
Bush League Republicans who need to be replaced.
They are going after her because President Trump supported her candidacy and because she supported President Trump’s priorities. They have made mince meat out her First Amendment rights. She has apologized for he statements of the past and says they do not represent who she is today and do not represent the views of her district. The double standard of what they are doing to her vs doing nothing in the fce of real bigots is disgusting.
So we didn’t really gain election ground ... democrats still dominate.
Have they removed Swalwell from the Intelligence committee yet?
So, can a simple Democratic majority vote to strip each and every Republican representative of their committee seat and freeze them out of the bill development process?
Not at all certain this vote has any authority. It has been for decades, a fact that the Democrats choose who they want on committees (even under a Repub majority control it has been this way) and Repubs get to do the same thing (even under dem majority control. This has been by agreement for the comity in the House to get things done.
In no way, shape or form may the majority demonrats decide what committees repubs are allowed on. This is decided for each party by their own leadership. The only party that can remove Greene is the Republican and that from their own party.
Thinking this article is saying something that is not the case— the stripping of the committee seats.
“I was allowed to believe things that weren’t true and I would ask questions about them and talk about them and that is absolutely what I regret,”
Even the WSJ is not only misquoting her but fabricating statements.
On the upside, Rep. Greene has no choice but to run for US Senate in 2022 and she will win.
Whatever. GOP is in the minority, their representatives on these committees are just tokens for when all the Dems’ wish list items are ram-rodded through them on party-line votes.
Greene will be back on a committee with actual power when the GOP makes up the House majority in 2023.
Any surprises on this list?!?
“Have they removed Swalwell from the Intelligence committee yet?”
And what conclusion are we to make when they promote a compromised clown to Impeachment Manager?
But Marj Green is the Bad Person.
Got it.
It certainly looks that way.
Those in favor of stripping Marjorie Taylor Greene had a 31 vote edge over those opposed. I don’t think the 11 Republicans who went along with the Dems made any difference.
Wear it as a badge of honor Marjorie.
Only one is newcomer Salazar from south Florida. Disappointing. The rest are the usual suspects or unknown backbenchers.
Replace these idiots. Let’s release the congressional sexual abuse payoff list. The People have a right to know where their money went.
Free Upton is lower than turtle poop.
Invoking the Upton rule...
No of course not - he was even made an Impeachment Manager.
Meanwhile, he, Cohn, Omar, Pressley, Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib remain on committees - their comments are certainly no less inflammatory than Greene’s.
