In a scene reminiscent of the 1984 movie “Footloose,” a Granite School District student petitioned her local school board Tuesday to reinstate school dances.
Unlike the fictional Ren McCormack, who fought his small town’s ban on dancing, Taylorsville High School junior Caitlin Bone pushed back against public health restrictions imposed to stem the spread of COVID-19 in schools.
Utah? Mormons are big on dancing! I used to go to the dances at the big LDS church in Tulsa fifty years ago!
Those gals could DANCE! I still get cold sweats thinking about it.
I hate that movie. It is simply one negative stereotype after another. I saw it in a theater when it was first released. I walked out. I even asked for a refund (They didn’t give it to me)
Like what, for example?
Do the Italian characters all talk with their hands?
Do the Irish characters drink a lot, and spew blarney?
Are the Scottish characters tight-fisted?
Regards,
My bad.
