A woman who is preparing to meet h a man she matched with on Tinder has provoked a lively debate about whether height really matters when dating, ater admitting she's nervous about him potentially being shorter than her.
Posting anonymously on Mumsnet, the UK-based woman explained she's 5ft 8in and has always dated taller men, and asked if she's 'incredibly shallow' to worry that a man she's planning a socially-distanced date with might be shorter.

I’m kind of short as well. Never wanted a guy who was tall enough that I was constantly looking up his nose.

Sure lots of guys think you’re sexy but they don’t really want to be “little” in the relationship. Guys need to feel dominant, which includes bigger all the way around.
I’ve been noticing lately that almost all of the leading male actors on Netflix and Amazon Prime films and series are shorter than the leading women.
It's that the job attracts overcompensating types.
Same for cops and fighter pilots.

If so, I totally disagree. It is not about who is attracted to the job.
These are casting decisions - the filmmakers want to influence social norms by creating the illusion that women are taller than men. So they purposely choose shorter men and taller women.
They do it because they are Leftists and they think by creating that perception, they are somehow helping women be seen as more powerful relative to men.
It is the same with homosexuality. Film makers are all Leftists who want to normalize homosexuality. How do you normalize something? You make it seem like nearly everyone is gay. So everyone in TV land is either gay, or they have a gay child, gay next door neighbors, or gay best friend.
They want to create the illusion that one out of every three people is homosexual, when in reality it is more like one in a hundred.

Relationships have several stages. The criteria of what is important for desirability for each stage is different. How popular and how much in demand a person is affects the strictness of their criteria for each stage.
It's called hypergamy: where a large percentage of women will only be happy with a man who is in the top 10% of desirability. Even if she's below average herself.
With such women, it doesn't matter that you point out that there is a huge amount of competition for desirable men -- she would rather share a desirable man than have an undesirable man all to herself.
For men in the top percentages of desirability, the pickings are good: they can go from woman to woman, and never need to commit.

Women are wired to want a man who can protect and provide for them and their children. This results in certain selection criteria.
Men are wired to be maximally attracted to women who are healthy, physically fit, and are fertile (with most of their fertile years ahead of them). This translates into looking for certain qualities which imply the woman could bear lots of healthy children, and survive childbirth (which wasn't always assured until recent times).
You are so right! I’m 6’1” and my GF is 5’11”. When she puts on her heels when we go out on a swank night date she’s a little taller than I am. What a turn on for me and she knows it. 😁

There is another interesting theory that there is an “evolutionary” effect that causes leading males to get shorter and shorter each generation.
According to the theory, leading male actors a hundred years ago were average height, but they wanted to be taller than their male co-stars.
So, since up-and-coming actors always get their first big break as a co-star, and the leading male wants to be taller than the male co-stars, it is an advantage to be short, if you want to land a co-star part.
Then, when these co-stars advance in their careers and become the leading male of the next generation, they want to look tall too, so they need to find male co-stars that are even shorter.
After a few generations you get Tom Cruise, etc..
By the year 2050, I figure the male actors will only be about a foot tall :-)
In High School I dated a girl who stood 6’3” and I am 5’9”.
She was a fine looking lady too.
Never had a problem with the size difference cept she could whup me a basketball.
This is one of the things that illustrates the wisdom of our ancestors. One of thing things we conservatives are interested in conserving.
If you let this run it’s course, as we appear to be doing, you end up with a bunch of lucky guys with essentially harems and a bunch of unlucky guys who have no shot at a woman and, essentially, nothing to lose. It’s a recipe for disaster and it’s likely why our ancestors instituted things like marriage and monogomy after having lived through, or at least learned from, multiple societal implosions that were the result of allowing unfettered attraction run wild.
