When I grew up in North Dakota, we always rooted for Phil to see his shadow. Six more weeks of winter WAS an early spring.
Now that I live about 90 minutes south of Punxsutawney (and have been twice), not so much.

The groundhogs prediction included ballots from 16 dead groundhogs, two marmots and a wombat and 327 paper ballots crudely marked “winter” delivered by an unmarked truck and counted just before the announcement. It is Pennsylvania after all.
