More than a few people have bought silver the last 24 hours that I hope will do okay.
As you note, in the next 24-72 hours some people are going to get jackhammered re: precious metals.
Interesting. Thanks for posting. I’ve got plenty of silver and junk silver.
“...coin minted about 350 BC...”
Does it say “BC” on it? I have one of those.
_________
I have some china rounds I got from my lcs, they are 5oz ? really nice silver plate really good looking, some guy put post it notes on them with prices from $3-5k and donated them them to his church, Lcs paid church $5 each, I bought a couple from him for the same.
I have a wooden nickel, I heard that lumber prices are going through the roof.
Just paid $34 for a half sheet of 3/4" plywood.
They do that and they’ll lose their A on margin calls.
The good guys are creating a squeeze monster.
“I have a wooden nickel”
: )
I said the open would show a pop, serious traders/producers would watch it run for a bit, size it up and then start selling into it, causing the pop to fade out. That is happening as expected. Hit a high of $29.25 and just traded at 28.20 and heading down.
Yup. I replaced a broken window pane after hurricane Katrina, $8.00. Replaced again after hurricane Sally (this year), $28.00. Same glass, same size.
“... from my lcs...”
Cool! My rbt gave me some ttdts and two fmos. Of course only an idiot would turn down free hmts.
Hope you gwmm!
Make vampire bullets?! 😆🔫
If you have 100 ounces of silver in a monetary collapse you have enough for two people to buy necessities for a month...maybe two.
100 pounds of silver means you can ride out the storm.
I bought silver @ $4 an ounce back in the early 2000’s. A few years later, when it hit $40 an ounce, I sold some. One tube of silver eagles was more than enough for a mortgage payment. That was one of my better investments.
lcs= “local coin shop”
one of those local businesses you should patronize when you can.
Silver is priceless. It’s G-d’s answer for health The best killer of pathogens 🦠 known to man
Silver was considered a mystical element in folklore.
The metal can do many things, from channel magic, to stopping evil (including warding off or harming vampires and werewolves), making magic mirrors, to turning water into a Healing Potion.
The myth of silver’s mystical properties goes deep into human history. As a noble metal akin to gold, this is often attributed to something along the lines of silver’s Incorruptible Pure Pureness.
People noticed a very long time ago: if you put water in a silver pitcher, it takes a lot longer for it to get unhealthily scummy. Silver has antimicrobial properties that make it quite useful in medicine.
In ancient and medieval alchemy silver was also the metal with an affinity corresponding to the moon, so many of the mystical properties of the moon also became associated with the metal (which would certainly explain its usefulness against werewolves).
Unlike in post-Medieval works, many pre-Christian pagan mythologies also associated it with the Sun, and many solar deities are described with silver objects (like Saulė’s silver thread,
Apollo’s silver bow and arrows or Amaterasu’s silver mirror).
Though ancient alchemists couldn’t know it, silver does have a unique property among the elements — it exists in a naturally excited form — i.e. it has a single electron that exists in a higher energy level, leaving a gap in the shell immediately “below” it.
Silver is almost always considered to be on the good end of magic (and items formed of it may also be Made of Good). Some works can make it evil or used for evil when Light Is Not Good.
This is one possible reason vampires traditionally have no reflections and don’t show up on film.
Old-time mirrors used silver backing to achieve reflection, and black and white film used silver nitrates to capture the image (plus some old camera models included mirrors in the light capture mechanism); since vampires are unholy, their light is not picked up by divine silver.
Of course, silver nitrates were phased out of film even before film itself was made obsolete by digital cameras.
Modern mirrors are usually backed by much cheaper aluminum, but the associated between vampirism and lack of image reproduction still lingers so beware of the mirror test.
Even beyond mirrors and bullets, this can overlap with Supernatural Repellent.
