She made the right decision.

The Lady from Shanghai, which is a great movie, flopped because Rita Hayworth's hair was cut short. People said Orson Welles had her do that as some kind of revenge, because they were getting divorced. Columbia Pictures head Harry Cohn was furious this had been done without telling him, because she was one the studio's top actresses.

Veronica Lake's career started going down hill, when the government asked her to cut her trademark hair. She did it out of patriotism.

I'm not sure why people want women to cut their hair so short.

I just watched a video about how Gene Kelly would browbeat his female colleagues to tears. But that was by making them practice like hell and yelling at them that they weren’t good enough yet. Cutting their hair? I knew he obsessively controlled the dancing aspects (to the point of being almost abusive about it) but I didn’t think Kelly was deciding what people wore and what their hair looked like. Interesting, quite a control freak.

I like a girl with long beautiful hair. I still am in love with Charles Dana Gibson’s Gibson Girls for their beautiful hair.

The 1920s Flapper era was horrid when the girls shorn their locks.

By the late 1930s beautiful hair became back in style.

She had plenty short hair in her life.

What's all the hullabaloo about Rita Moreno as "Zelda Zanders" in "Singin' in the Rain?"

Ms. Moreno had absolutely no lines in that film. It was basically a "walk-on."

Regards,

Very pretty young woman back in the day.

Page six photo from the era. Dress strap fell off her shoulder and front part of dress fell down a bit. She is leaning forward in the chair. You’d think a wardrobe guy would fix the dress before the photo......

Oh wait, never mind.
