Impeachment trial provides a rare opportunity for Trump

Might this be Trump's chance to get some solid evidence before the American people regarding the 2020 election?

By impeaching now former president Donald Trump in the House of Representatives, Democrats and NeverTrump types may have just unwittingly provided a worldwide platform to the former president to allow him to showcase evidence of voting irregularities or perhaps even outright fraud in the 2020 election. For an added dimension, the trial may serve to demonstrate that the Capitol incident was really instigated and fostered by non-Trump supporting agitators and organizers.

For this to happen and for it to have the desired result, two things need be true. One, Trump really has to have the goods. Two, the defense has to make a cogent and understandably simple case. If so, then both the Democrat Party and the fledgling Biden/Harris administration will suffer irreparable damage.

An article of impeachment is basically a charging document, akin to a criminal indictment. In a criminal case, the prosecution must prove each and every element that constitutes the offense charged. Otherwise, the defendant is acquitted or at least should be. An impeachment trial is not a criminal proceeding, so the outcome can be driven by other political considerations. Nevertheless, the Democrat House managers must still offer some modicum of support for the elements of their case to avoid exposing themselves, again, as merely tawdry partisans.

Will a presiding leftist “judge” (Leahy) allow this evidence to be presented? I don’t think so.

Also the media will claim that anything Trump says is a lie. And the useful/useless idiots will snarl with gnashing of teeth.

“Judge” Leahy absolutely will not allow any evidence from PDJT. Either he’ll outright deny it, or the members will silence every effort for Trump’s lawyers to speak, cutting them off mid-sentence in the first sentence.

I know that Giuliani, Bannon, etc., are counting on evidence being presented, because those are the rules. They don’t get that rules and the Constitution are moot now. How could they not know that?

The Left has picked up a tiger by the tail. If they let this continue, they are idiots. If they don’t allow Trump to present evidence, then, Trump, the master showman will present it to the public. He has the money to reach the public and he will create the means to reach them. I give Amazon, Facebook and Twitter about two more years.

They will never allow Trump to appear in person, or even to present a defense.

Making it understandable for the DemonRat’s pea brains to follow would be the most difficult part.

This isn't a trial. It's a lynching.

Remember, Dims are good at that.

I said this weeks ago!!!

The Trump card here is potentially a full redress of grievances regarding election fraud.

I have a feeling the Senate will do everything they can to actually avoid this.

This might very well backfire on Democrats and Never Trumpers. Hopefully much of the proof of the stolen election will come out.

Like previous time, they won’t allow an evidence discovery phase. Since they can’t convict (not enough votes), they won’t let Trump get benefit of an opportunity they can’t make more of.

They will not allow it. They will narrow the scope to “leading insurrection”.

“They will never allow Trump to appear in person”

Better for PDJT to let his lawyers do the talking and he stay home.

” ... or even to present a defense.”

I believe you’re right. They’ll not allow him or his lawyers to present a defense. It’ll be a kangaroo / communist court.

I’ve been saying this for weeks. Democrats have finally fight this out and I don’t expect the impeachment to happen.

The presumption is that Leahy and the other Democrats won’t allow the “lies and misinformation” (in their opinions) to be entered as evidence.

Of course they’ll allow Jacob Anthony Chansley, AKA, QAnon Shaman to testify - cuz, you know, Trump lied to him and made him attack the capital building.

If, by chance, the evidence the Trump team has is allowed in, watch and see how quickly the Democrats shut down the trial.

This seems to be a whole lot of wishful thinking? Remember, Trump's team took the 'goods' to 80+ courts, some of which were appointed by him, up to and including the supreme court and was rejected? What makes the writer think that this would be different now?

Conservatives better realize that they have been snookered into believing that a 'rule of law' exists in this country. It does not exist. It was destroyed during the Obama years when the deep state assumed control of the justice department, the courts, and the intelligence agencies. Remember, Brennan's CIA and Comey's FBI and Holder's DOJ spied on candidate Trump and created an insurance policy to oust Trump should he be elected in 2016. They didn't succeed until the 2020 election, but they did, in fact, succeed. They denied Trump's overwhelming re-election, disenfranchising 75 million voters, through fraudulent activities. If those violations of the law are not prosecuted with those who were treasonous to the country, punished by being put to death, this country has ceased to exist as a representative republic where a 'rule of law' prevails! If that prosecution doesn't happen there is only one way to bring the country back to where it should be.............

For me the impeachment is one more proof of the theft of the elections, the thieves fear that their victim will return stronger because of Biden’s sure failure
