In a call to action, the sheriff of a Louisiana parish urged parents to “take control” after a 15-year-old died from a stabbing in a fight between teens inside a Walmart store over the weekend.
Four girls, ages 14, 13 and 12, are now charged in the incident, according to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.
“It’s really heartbreaking when we have to come in and pick up the pieces, because so many families were damaged after this,” Sheriff Tony Mancuso said at a Sunday news conference. “It’s just a cycle that we have to stop, and we’re just fed up with it.”

And a curfew wouldn’t have prevented this. Not unless it’s a lot more restrictive.

Normally, I would agree with you. The fact that names and pictures have not been released is usually a tip-off that the accused belong to a racially ‘protected’ class. However, given the very young ages of the suspects, it is possible that identification is being withheld because of their age rather than because of their race. It depends on what Louisiana law is concerning juvenile offenders.

On one of my first flights after the TSA screening was mandated my sister had her nail trimmers confiscated. But you could still buy a pair at the shop inside the secured area.
And at the waiting area by the gate a lady say happily knitting away with her 10" stabbing weapons.
