Tom Brady Sr. revealed Monday that he and his wife, Galynn, both contracted COVID-19 in the fall and both were “sick as a dog.”
“When the season started this year, I was in the hospital with COVID for almost three weeks and my wife was sick with COVID at the same time,” Brady Sr. said Monday on ESPN’s “#Greeny.”
“We didn’t even see the first two games of the year. It was the first two games I ever missed of his career because I was sick as a dog and my wife was as sick as a dog.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen’s father is recovering at home from COVID and pneumonia which put him in the hospital earlier this month.
“Sick as a dog,” is a subjective standard, but there could be a more medically relevant one.
Tom Brady gave them his spice melange.

“Sick as a dog” is one of those meaningless but fun idioms.
Another one is “slept like a baby”. Babies often wake up several times a night crying and whining etc. My niece was born a couple days before 9/11 and had a difficult first few weeks with stomach issues. My brother told me he and his wife were exhausted between the baby being awake all night and the constant 9/11 news all day long.
She had a bout with cancer. God kept these incredible parents alive for a reason. God bless them and their incredible son.

So maybe it will provide some benefit against the more drastic problems with Covid. We are probably years away from any scientific conclusion but I took my chances and tried it.
Well, three weeks in the hospital qualifies to be “sick as a dog” under the central Pennsylvania slang “scale” that I grew up with.

Actually, "sick as a dog" never included hospitalization when I was growing up. Maybe sick in bed, puking, fever, bad hangover, etc. But hospitalization, being on supplemental oxygen, etc usually ended the cute colloquialisms.
