A man riding the chairlift at a Romanian skiing resort captured video of the tense moment a fellow skier was chased by a bear.
David Creta posted a video to YouTube showing the bear chasing a skier on a slope at the Predeal ski resort on Saturday.
Chairlift riders alerted the skier to the pursuit, and the skier threw his backpack on the ground, which succeeded in distracting the bear for long enough to allow the man to escape.
Police spokesman Ion Zaharia said the skier did the right thing by distracting the bear. He said three emergency calls came in about the bear being spotted in various locations at the resort Saturday.
Zaharia said the bear fled into the woods when police arrived in all-terrain vehicles, but authorities are considering having the bear relocated to avoid future confrontations on the slopes.
Relocations of bears are generally, a waste of time and resources.
Just shoot the bear. It has shown itself to be dangerous to humans.
What’s Romanian for “I don’t have to ski faster than the bear...”?
I was chased by a cougar at a ski resort once. It actually had a fairly pleasant ending. :-)
Ya think?
Couldn’t they just put a little bear symbol on the difficulty rating signs?
That’ll teach him to eat honey on the ski slope!
Now there’s a game the bear would enjoy.....
LOL
Was this a double black diamond run?
I have just started watching the series “Alone”
https://www.history.com/shows/alone
some people are irrationally afraid of bears
my kid went camping last month and got up at 1:30 cause he probably drank lots of beer, and there were 3 bears hangin in his campsite. he came home with bear prints all over his car where they tried to get in and eat his food.
What game and console was this? Looks like Activision Skiing by David Crane on the Atari 2600 only with way better graphics.

I was chased by a cougar or two when younger and was glad to get caught.
However at 81 a cougar for me would have to be in her mid 110s and I can’t see that happening for EITHER of us.<:<:<:
Lol!
Laughed out Loud! ‘look for the bear necessities’
I dunno. Looks like a juvenile black bear, which could certainly do some damage, but unless it was rabid it probably didn’t pose much threat.
Black bears that age can be disturbingly playful.
