SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – It’s not uncommon in California for residents to seek recalls but they rarely get on the ballot - and even fewer succeed. Several launched against Newsom faded but another attempt is drawing greater attention as his fortunes change while he enters a critical stretch in his governorship.
Recall organizers say they have collected have reached 1.2 million signatures toward the 1.5 million petition signatures needed to place the recall on the ballot, and they have until mid-March to hit the required threshold.
Rescue CA has a goal of getting in enough signatures to help the effort get to 2 million signatures. 1.5 million validated signatures are required to qualify a recall for a special election, according to Anne Dunsmore, Campaign manager and finance director, Rescue California. Currently the Secretary of State has confirmed that the signatures have been 84% valid.
Rescue CA has raised $1.7 million dollars towards its goal of $2.5 million with over 9000 contributors, Dunsmore said on Good Morning San Diego.
If the recall qualifies, Newsom would be forced to fend off rivals in the midst of a pandemic that has cost the state millions of jobs, cored government budgets and upended life for nearly 40 million residents.

If he faces a recall, Newsom would have advantages. He would have no donation limits on his fundraising, opening the way for a record flood of cash to defend his seat. Democrats have a nearly 2-to-1 advantage in registered voters.

Hey ho...Navin Gruesome got to go.
We’ve got the voters..have we got the will? How can we possibly fall short after not being prepared for the enemy (fraud) in Nov? Blitz
My wife and I sent in our “vote” for this last week. I enclosed a note to the effect: “When can we recall BeijingBiden?”
In Ca votes have not counted for years. But, a recall effort on Newsome is sorta like a stick in his eye, worth the trouble.
As to votes, we did vote for the silly Bullet Train. Well, “they did”, but not the point. But, its provisions required public $$ support to go ahead. No such support materialized. A court ruled that the vote/bill didn’t count so the building went forward. Attempts to overturn this met same result as court cases to correct corrupt election.
All Guv’mt programs are designed only to provide opportunities to skim off the cream.
Why mention Cox the loser in 2018? He’ll lose again. Gather behind Falconer. Best resume on paper to take him on.
I have a solution. Less politics and more action. Mass reopening of businesses. Its your right and politicians of neither party can’t vote it up or down.
Be careful what you wish for.

Come on California...you can do it!
They did it with Gray Davis.
This. Exactly this.
If Italian restaurant owners can organize and decide as a massive block to re-open their establishments, and to shun mask requirements, it’s high time for those of us who live in lockdown states to start doing the same thing.
The biggest threat (and it is in fact a serious one) that restaurant/bar owners face is the loss of their liquor licenses.
Our favorite bar/grill, which we will drive out of our way to visit is owned by a very conservative person. It’s been there for 80 years. And, over that time, the neighborhood, which used to blue color, has been turned into a liberal cesspool.
The owner told my wife and I that if she gets one too many complaints leveled against her from a liberal customer (there aren’t hardly any, but they come in occasionally, I swear, just to see if there are any “rule breakers” present), that the health department will revoke their liquor license.
They have already been hurt terribly by the lockdowns. The loss of their license would mean the end.
I’m not a lawyer, but I believe that being forced to live in fear of losing one’s business for breaking unconstitutional laws, masquerading as “public and personal safety” qualifies as extortion.
Closer to home, we have already voted with our wallets. Businesses that don’t require masks, we trade with them.
There are evidently at least two recall Newsom web sites. This initially appeared like an attempt to weaken signatures for a single official web site. But the mailing address on the petitions from both web sites appears to be the same, correction welcome.
