“Any platform open to the public ought to have freedom to censor at will. Change my mind.”
So, Duke Energy should be allowed to cut off your power because they don’t like your politics? Some of these platforms are de facto monopolies. They need to be regulated as such. Also, editing by suppression makes them publishers. They need to lose the section 230 protection.
Well Paler is way much better then Twitter.
These people are getting hosted by Russians. This is nuts. Given the kind of political things being talked about, how’d you like to be blackmailed with a doxxing by the FSB? The Parler CEO obviously couldn’t find his rear end with both hands and a flashlight. What the Mercers need to do is fire this guy and hire someone who knows what he’s doing.
“How do people know these apps aren’t really funded by someone like Soros?”
How do we know Free Republic isn’t funded by Soros? Maybe this is just a big honeypot. But for some reason I just have a feeling it’s not.
I do not use Duke Energy. Their paying customers receive juice, not words.
Defacto monopolies, as in everyone must use their service or else they cannot speak?
I really dont understand what is happening with this. There must be 1000’s of web hosting services across the US.
Just because one has the right to speak does not mean they have a right to be heard by the entire world.
Not if it don’t work.
FR goes back to 1996, and people know the founders well. I don’t think there is any comparison.
If they censor at will they are publishers
Gab is running pretty quick these past few days. I’ll likely make that my primary social media site.
[Epik is located in the state of Washington...not Russia.]
[Why, so they can doxx more people? ]
“Defacto monopolies, as in everyone must use their service or else they cannot speak?”
I think we are talking about FB, Twitter, etc. Amazon web services can be replaced. Things have worked out that not using them is like getting on your soapbox out in the middle of the desert. You can technically speak, but nobody can hear you. These services also get special protection for being platforms and not publishers. Deplatforming legal speech is IMHO publishing. So, as long they have have the only soapboxes available and also this special protection, they should have to publish all legal speech. This could be avoided by allowing other soapboxes to be built, but they are colluding to prevent that. Until all legal speech has an adequate platform, should not be allowed to deplatform it.
Thedonald.win went off line. They want to shut down everything.
One problem is HR expects people to have a FB account, not having one is a ‘red flag’.
“One problem is HR expects people to have a FB account, not having one is a ‘red flag’.”
Really. What, do they think you are lying, or there is something wrong with you, or what? God, am I glad I am retired. Facebook must wield more total power than any corporation anywhere in the world ever has. This is just scary sh!t.
