Hank Aaron, the Hall of Famer slugger who starred with the Atlanta Braves, has passed away at the age of 86.
Just days after the MLB world mourned the loss of pitching icon Don Sutton, the game’s one-time home run king died on Friday morning in Atlanta.
The heartbreaking news, first reported by CBS 46, has since been confirmed by a close family member and a former Braves official.
Aaron got his start in baseball with the Indianapolis Clowns on the Negro League in 1951. Before long, he quickly caught the attention of MLB. After signing with the Braves, he spent the next few seasons in the minor leagues before making his MLB debut in 1954.

Mad science.
“passed away at the age of 86”
Sounds like more than a coincidence. Norway apparently have experience indicating likely causality in some cases.
Medical community still don’t understand this virus.
This is an interesting study..(btw, that guy must have had a long life of jokes at his name)

For reasons that researchers don’t understand, the autoantibodies never caused a problem until patients were infected with COVID-19, Bastard said. Somehow, the novel coronavirus, or the immune response it triggered, appears to have set them in motion.
I heard about this on Rush.
He was my hero when I was a kid. Seattle did not have a major league team in those days, and the Milwaukee Braves were my favorite team. I still have a couple of old issues of “Sport” magazine which featured articles about Aaron.
> Hank was a class act. <
Yes he was. And another class act was Babe Ruth’s widow Claire. When Aaron was closing in on Ruth’s home run record he got all sorts of threats. Can’t have a black guy break the Babe’s record.
Mrs. Ruth made a point of publicly supporting Aaron. A quote from her:
“The Babe loved baseball so very much; I know he was pulling for Hank Aaron to break his record.”
Hammerin’ Hank. RIP
I thought California put a halt on Moderna because of side effects a few were having...maybe it was just one county.
You are correct. Hank was a hater. Good riddance.
He stated when he got the televised vaccine shot that he was doing it to show the black community it was safe. We will have to see how that turns out. RIP Mr Aaron.

It was a great moment in America when Aaron broke Ruth’s home run record.
I was there! 714!
That may very well be...but he could play baseball.
And play well.
several people here have posted that they have gone to the black areas to get the vaccine because they still aren’t going in for it.
looks like it was just a quick halt

And Ruth did it in bigger stadiums
A dirty little secret is they moved the left field fences in Atlanta to help Aaron get to the record.
There's a reason the 73(?) Braves had 4 guys including 140lb Davey Johnson hit 40 that year.
The Los Angeles Dodgers led the Atlanta Braves, 3-1,
when Aaron came to the plate against Dodgers veteran lefty Al
Downing in the bottom of the fourth inning. Downing had
walked Aaron on five pitches in his first at-bat, so there were
boos among the sellout crowd of 53,775 when his first pitch
was taken low for a ball. With teammate Darrell Evans on first
base after reaching on an error, Aaron jumped on Downing’s
second offering and sent it 385 feet over the left field wall.
Vin Scully calls Hank Aaron's 715th Home Run
Downing grooved that pitch so much, I could have hit it.
