The crowd for President Trump went all the way to the Washington Monument from the Capitol, Biden’s gathering was almost nothing:

Perhaps I'm missing something or several somethings.
I thought Beijing Biden's inauguration was supposed to be virtual. No one was supposed to go there anyway. So, what is the meaning when they say that there was almost no one there? Seems like people followed the orders to stay away.

I'm also not understanding why they had to do a pre-recording. Was anything happening onsite since it was pre-recorded? Are they saying no one was there because it happened earlier because it was recorded? If people were there, what did they do if it was all done prior to 11:50a? Did an actual swearing in happen at that time, or the recording was released at that time?

It may be the televised inauguration ceremony was different from the ritual happening outdoors on 1/20.
