Statement From Second City Cop (gone dark. Chicago cop blog)
Hey Jackass ^ | 1-13-21 | Second City Cop

SCC explains the decision to shut down their website:

Well, this was certainly a long time coming. Fifteen years, over 22,000 posts, almost two million comments and God knows how many attempts to silence us. But it might finally be over…at least this version of it.

Over the weekend, we received information from a contact at Google that internal chat/e-mails led them to believe that certain precautions we had taken over the years had been breached by Google. We had gotten similar warnings from others in the past, and we dealt with or ignored them as the situation warranted. But this one was different.

And this one – on the heels of Big Tech’s wholesale attack on the President, Parler and center-right to right-leaning authors, politicians and voices – pointed to a countdown that had far less time than we had thought. Most likely, far less time than you think, too. The blacklisting has begun, even if you won’t see it. You should – the wholesale abandonment of the President, the denunciations, the, “I wasn’t really with him” self-serving statements. Sound familiar? It should…if you have any recollections of the show trials behind the Iron Curtain, in Southeast Asia, in assorted Middle East kleptocracies.

“certain precautions we had taken over the years had been breached by Google.”

Don’t we have laws against hacking?

Disavowal and re-education is on tap. What Senator McCarthy is remembered for – “Are you now or have you ever been…”

We all know the rest of that question...

It was never a good idea to do this via Google’s blogspot. And given the danger to his pension, I’m surprised he kept it up for so long. Maybe when he’s safely retired, through tips from cops still on the beat.

Worthwhile repost.

The 2nd item there, The End is Near, was foreshadowing.

"...Disavowal and re-education is on tap. What Senator McCarthy is remembered for – "Are you now or have you ever been..."

Senator McCarthy is remembered for that due to the exact same processes and types of people who are responsible for the current mess, the Left, inclusive of Democrat Party, Media, Entertainment, Entertainment, adding in Big Tech.

Those same people who slandered McCarthy and salted the earth over his very grave to eternity as a disreputable and evil person are the ones who are going to perform the exact same hatchet act on President Trump and Conservatives.

We should no more participate in the slander of Joseph McCarthy than we should in the current and coming slander of Trump and his supporters.

Some people won't believe this without "evidence", and apparently a statement by the people who are shutting down the blog is insufficient to qualify as "evidence" for some people.

They probably want to see secret documents from Google or something.

When the Nazis were shutting down Jewish businesses, i'm sure there were people out there asking for "evidence" that they were only targeting Jews.

Looking around and seeing a pattern is just too difficult for some people.

Oh, I know that. He had the Commies' number, all right. But that phrase, "Are you now, or have you ever been..." has a ring to it worth contemplating.

But I'll heed your words, and not include his name if I see the need to quote it again. Thanks for making your very good point.

The Communist party was outlawed when the question was asked in Congressional hearings “Are you now, or have you ever been a member of the communist party”. And yes, many of them were members of the Communist party.

Heck, most of us here know this innately, but we all grew up with that indoctrination from an early age.

Including me.

I went through most of my life nodding in agreement that, yes, Senator McCarthy was a very bad man who should be relegated to the trash heap of history and forgotten.

It was only when I was older, and heard a different version of McCarthy and events surrounding him that was so polar opposite of all I had ever heard, that after I listened to it, thought “Someone is not telling the truth here.”

Both accounts could not be correct. In particular, was the portion of the Army-McCarthy hearings in 1954 where McCarthy was, in the widely accepted version (in history textbooks, movies, and media) accused of badgering and slandering an innocent person prompting the lawyer Joseph Welch to utter the immortal line “Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?”

Well, this observation on my part was about perhaps 10 years after the Internet became a thing, so I was able to go to the Library of Congress website and download the actual transcripts of the hearings (they were not easy to find on that website at the time) and read those actual transcripts.

What I found from reading the transcripts was that the long accepted version of events was complete and utter leftist BS, and the account I had read was far more aligned with the actual events and dialogue that took place.

I became very interested in that time frame and subject, and have read several dozen books on the era, and have come to the conclusion that we have been lied to about this our entire lives.

It was extremely disillusioning for me. In much the same way that reading the Whittaker Chambers book “Witness” had a profound political effect on me, this knowledge also had the same effect. After that, I became nearly universally skeptical of anything I read in school textbooks or heard on the news.

If I heard a reporter say the sky was blue, I would glance up to ensure it actually was.

Overall, that has had a positive effect on me, but I didn’t enjoy the concept of being forced to reevaluate everything I had been told since childhood, even though that has been a positive thing as well.

One of the cleavage points between Leftism and Conservatism is Introspection.

We, as Conservatives, are forced to constantly examine our belief systems to test and validate them against reality, and we are forced to do this as a matter of course because we are under constant assault due to our beliefs. So those of us who are serious about it engage in a significant amount of introspection.

Leftists feel no such desire or need for introspection. Their views are not only not assaulted, they are lauded and reinforced by a willing and compliant Media/Big Tech/Entertainment/Education that never examines the foundations of their belief systems, but without any supporting logic or analysis, simply states it as “good” and “fact”.

Leftism is a haven for lazy people and intellectually challenged people who cannot think for themselves. It is why they have a hive mentality.

And we, as Conservatives, in general do not.

I was concerned because based on his reporting, nefarious forces might be able to drill down and figure out who he is.
They could at least narrow it down to a group and figure it out from there.

Very impressive yeoman's work about McCarthy. I took the easy way and just subscribed to (the old) National Review, watched Firing Line, and let Buckley do the grunt work.

They made McCarthy the face of the hunt for Communists because he was a Republican. They always start their articles, “McCarthy and the House UnAmerican Activities Committee”. McCarthy was a Senator.

No names ever mentioned concerning HUAC. You can guess why. Most of them were Democrats.

Martin Dies Jr., (D-Tex.), 1938–1944
Edward J. Hart (D-N.J.), 1945–1946
J. Parnell Thomas (R-N.J.), 1947–1948
John Stephens Wood (D-Ga.), 1949–1953
Harold H. Velde (R-Ill.), 1953–1955
Francis E. Walter (D-Pa.), 1955–1963
Edwin E. Willis (D-La.), 1963–1969
Richard Howard Ichord Jr. (D-Mo.), 1969–1975

In case you haven’t noticed, laws are only upheld if conservatives break them.
