Still convalescing from that fall a couple of weeks ago. Another cracked rib, a bruise from the knee to my hip, both slow to heal with low platelets. It didn't make the annual drive up and back the most pleasant experience. We were up your way the 7th through the 11th - belated Christmas trip, she couldn't get time off Christmas week. Currently listening to the Old Time Radio Program on Roku. Chilly evening here in Alabama. Got Kansas City style BBQ ribs in the oven, Bush's Southern Pit BBQ Grillin' Beans on the stove, going out to start a fire and pour a glass of Chardonnay......

The fire is for ambiance, if not a a little heat. She keeps turning the heat down to 68 so Alabama Power doesn’t round upward our bill averaging plan and my hands are getting arthritic, and they tend to cramp up. Last week my 80-year-old mother threatened to wrap me in bubble wrap when we got there. I didn’t even go downstairs to get in the hot tub because I was afraid I’d struggle back up the stairs and would have to walk up the driveway to get to the living room again.

Her problem is (on top of MS and a Scrooge-like attitude towards money), she's at that point in life where she's getting hot flashes constantly. Her idea of compromise is for me to wear wool mittens.

Gotta check the ribs.
