Democrats build impeachment case, alleging ‘dangerous crime’ (IMPEACHMENT HELD HOSTAGE - DAY 31)

WASHINGTON (AP) - The lead prosecutor for President Donald Trump’s historic second impeachment began building his case for conviction at trial, asserting on Sunday that Trump’s incitement of the mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol was “the most dangerous crime” ever committed by a president against the United States. A Senate trial could begin as soon as this week, just as Democrat Joe Biden is sworn in as the 46th president.

Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., did not say when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., will send the single article of impeachment against Trump - for “incitement of insurrection” - to the Senate, which will trigger the beginning of the trial. But Raskin said “it should be coming up soon” as Pelosi organizes the formal transfer.

“We’re going to be able to tell the story of this attack on America and all of the events that led up to it,” Raskin said. “This president set out to dismantle and overturn the election results from the 2020 presidential election. He was perfectly clear about that.”

Democrats and the incoming administration are facing the challenge of reckoning with the Capitol attack at the same time that Biden takes office and tries to move the country forward. They say the Congress can do both, balancing a trial with confirmations of the new president’s Cabinet and consideration of his legislative priorities.

Raskin said Congress cannot establish a precedent where “we just want to let bygones be bygones” just because Trump has left office.

Yet it’s clear that Democrats do not want the Senate trial to dominate Biden’s opening days.

Why even bother with an “impeachment” that will go exactly nowhere in the US Senate?
The only thing it will do is to make sure Biden is impeached the moment we take over the House in 2022.

The ‘Rats have gone full Third World. The Democrat Party brand of politics belongs in Bolivia or Zimbabwe. Not the USA.

Impeachment pretty much is a joke as it is, even the Clinton Impeachment was a joke.

Why are they doing this when Trump will be out of office? Are they afraid he won’t be out?

Is it even legal.to have an impeachment trial after Trump has left office?

Even if perfectly legal, it is simply a symbolic action because Trump will.be gone.

This is a funny story, becsuse they say democrats don’t want impeachment to dominate ths early days of the Biden administration, yet they have pulled the trigger on events which will do just that.

they can’t do it legally- but that won’t stop them for one minute= Alan Dershowitz lays out how it can’t be done constitutionally, but that won’t stop the left- they don’t believe i n the constitution UNLESS it benefits their radical hateful agendas

“Building a case”-—out of what, exactly? No crime was committed. Maybe they’re using Jenga blocks. Bam!

Seems like overkill to me. Going after him politically when he’s out of office.

Meanwhile Biden and the democrats keep talking about peace and unity. They, at the same time, go rabidly after impeaching an ex-President Trump like a pack of dogs. There is no unity endeavor involved in actions like this. That says they are hypocrites.

They are afraid he will come back!

Yet it’s clear that Democrats do not want the Senate trial to dominate Biden’s opening days.

In other words, the rats want to have their cake and eat it too.

I'm ticked they're wasting our tax payer dollars on a trial that will go nowhere.

If they have this ‘Trial’ they are going to have to allow for evidence of vote fraud. If they suppress that it's not even close to a fair trial. All those people were there to stop the fraud and truth is the ultimate defense...unless you are a RAT.

I doubt he will run in 2024. He’ll be too old. And the GOP won’t let him be nominated.

The smooth transition has already been made. Trump is getting ready for his second term and he has 26,000 troops occupying Washington DC to allow him to do it.

Let’s get this really clear & public:

The Democrats’ “dangerous crime” is freedom of speech and the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Given the Left’s excusing of “mostly peaceful protests” throughout 2020, they have no standing to construe what happened, much less Trump’s admonition of peaceful protest, as a “dangerous crime”.

The “crime” was exercising freedom of speech, or of the press; and the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Making the 1st Amendment a “crime” is step 1 of imposing Communism.
