Hubris killed him.
Congrats.
And what a weird murder case that was.
But his wig lives on.
Not a fan of his production work on the “Let It Be” album and some of the Beatles solo albums. His sound worked well for the Ronettes, though. As a human being, he was terrible of course.
Let me guess... COVID?
He killed a decent looking woman. I wonder if the cause of death was the Wuhan Virus?
one of my favorite Rock and Roll stories, when the boys (Specter, John Lennon, Mickey Dolan) were hanging out in LA Phil had a body guard, Lennon said it was to protect everyone from Phil.
From the article: “Media reports said he had died after being diagnosed four weeks ago with Covid-19 in prison, where he was serving a 19 years-to-life sentence for the murder of the actor Lana Clarkson.
“But the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation only confirmed he had died “of natural causes at 6.35pm on Saturday 16 January 2021, at an outside hospital.””
They’re already spinning as a Covid death.
Phil won’t get a big Hollywood style funeral, since he was a convicted murderer. Still, wouldn’t it be something, if his funeral was produced with that same ‘Wall of Sound’ he was noted for in the recordings. Most the Millenials probably never heard of him.
I beat them on Chuck Berry several years ago. Unfortunately the profile was locked and I couldn’t update it.
Undeniable musical genius, but a pretty f**ked-up individual...
I was amused when I saw him in the coke-snorting scene at the start of Easy Rider.
All this time, I thought Spector was acquitted. Glad to hear that he was in fact imprisoned for his crime.
Great music impresario, and irreplaceable in his role at the time. Despite his unforgivable crime, it’s a little sad he had to end his days in this manner.
Amazing that OJ managed to get away with what he did. Even in the 90’s, black privilege was real.
What about his wig?
