Johnson and Johnson’s one-dose coronavirus vaccine shows promise of being safe and effective with fewer side effects than other vaccines. The results of early trials were published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
The two vaccines approved by the FDA — Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech — both require two doses about three weeks apart to become fully effective. The Pfizer vaccine has shown some worrying side effects in a small percentage of patients, including allergic reactions that could become life-threatening. There is less data on the Moderna vaccine but side effects have also been a problem.
J&J scientists randomly assigned healthy adults between the ages of 18 and 55 and those 65 and older to receive a high or low dose of its vaccine — called Ad26.COV2.S — or a placebo. Some participants in the 18-to-55 age group were also selected to receive a second dose of the vaccine.
Most of the volunteers produced detectable neutralizing antibodies, which researchers believe play an important role in defending cells against the virus, after 28 days, according to the trial data. By day 57, all volunteers had detectable antibodies, regardless of vaccine dose or age group, and remained stable for at least 71 days in the 18-to-55 age group.
The most common side effects were fever, fatigue, headache, muscle aches, and pain at the injection site, according to the trial data, with fewer side effects for those in the older age group.
Another potential advantage with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is that the logistics of delivering and storing it are far less complicated.

I believe this J&J version is made the old fashioned way and does not change one’s mRNA, but is like any other vaccine you may have gotten.
Pass also but I pass on all flu vaccinations anyway. But it I have to legally get it, then this is the version I would prefer.

The J&J vaccine was developed by the company’s Belgian unit, Janssen Pharmaceutica, and is based on viral adenovirus vector technology, the same approach used to create the University of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine. This type of shot is easier to scale up than those developed by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna which are based on messenger RNA technology.

If the data indicates the vaccine is safe and effective, the company expects to submit an Emergency Use Authorization application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in February. Other health regulatory applications around the world are expected to be made in parallel.
The company has committed to selling the vaccine on a not-for-profit basis for emergency pandemic use.
J&J entered into an agreement with the U.S. in August 2020 to deliver 100 million doses of the vaccine following approval or emergency use authorization by the FDA, and the option to purchase up to 200 million additional doses under a subsequent agreement.

At a hospital fairly near me, a man was put down as a ‘rona death after dying in the ER from two gunshot wounds to the chest.

Some hospitals might have had death tolls that were in error either by mistake or on purpose. But rectifying those numbers was attempted by the CDC. Don’t know if went well or not.
The bottom line, as you demonstrated in your post is that some people are still in denial that COVID-19 can kill certain people more effectively than just a common yearly flu.
Because you believe that COVID is as harmless, as weak or weaker than a common flu the only “proof” you can offer is that the numbers are all lies.
I believe and as time goes we are seeing this in real time, most people contracting COVID have mild symptoms, and many probably had COVID but didn’t know it and assumed it was a cold or mild flu.
The first 2-4 months of COVID-19 here killed more than the yearly flu, 4% death rate vs 2% for a common flu.
Now we have treatments other than intubation. Now more can be done, now there’s a vaccine.
Now the survival rate has increased and floats around 99%.
If you decide to get the vaccine or not, it’s a personal choice.
But many anti vaxxers are now trying to prove their case, instead of just not getting vaccinated they’re finding real or internet rumors of isolated incidents of the vaccine killing people.....heck, they could even link your guy with the two gunshot wounds to the chest to dying because of the vaccine.
They are handing it out readily in our area. They were going to give it to my brother intravenously when he asked, “What are you giving me?” He made them change it right there on the spot. They weren’t too happy about it. We have had some major issues with the drug and some people don’t realize they have side effects and are being treated for something else.
I am sorry to disagree. Our family has had our personal experiences with it. Nasty. Just take a look at some of the heart breaking stories. You must be in the medical or pharma profession.

It’s far more likely that deaths caused by a vaccine would be covered up by leftwads than that normal people would invent them. If normal people prove their case against these rushed, dangerous vaccines, that case will be grounded in truth. Any case made by your people will, as always, be grounded in and solely supported by lies.

No, because they are constrained by a real commitment to the truth, they are not free to say such a thing. Your people, who are bound in no way by moral strictures, could say that or anything else they like, without regard for the truth.

Really, what it said was true, it can swing either way. I could just as easily use the same article and apply it to the anti-vaccine crowd.
Look, I’m not exactly sure what you’re basing your belief that the vaccine is not safe.........I can only assume it’s from months of Facebook and other social media post from people that that swear Bill Gates will inject a chip into us and control us or it’s part of the Mark of the Beast.
I’ve seen so many wild theories that frighten me more than Ebola. To think that so many people actually believe some of that stuff to me is scary.
I hold no negative feelings towards you. I just believe that based on my medical knowledge, training and many years of working in the field that those years out weigh some kooky Q’ish internet rumor.
So if you chose not to get the vaccine, it’s your right, it’s your choice by all means. I hope as time passes perhaps you see how things go and how people you know react to the vaccine.
If you chose not to get vaccinated, I hope you are safe and wash your hands after going somewhere public. COVID can be dealt with though treatments far better than in the first 2-3 months.......but still there are those Herman Cain’s out there that have a rough go and are among the .2%.

Curious, there a few M.D.s here on FreeRepublic and they are in agreement regarding the vaccine.......why would you listen to someone you don’t know or who isn’t a Doctor that happened to write a article?

So is the best recommendation to wait for the Johnson and Johnson vaccine>? I have an opportunity to get the Prizer vaccine and am weighing my choices.
Personal history is not necessarily group history. I am sorry there was a bad reaction with levaquin in your personal history. The same is true for Penicillin and every drug.
