Kind of News, but no Article. Gab is Open Source (Vanity)
Listening to Bannon's War Room ^ | January 13, 2021 | ConservativeInPA

Andrew Torba, CEO of Gab.com, is being interviewed by Steve Bannon. I found this tidbit of information very interesting. Torba states that Gab.com software has been developed as open source and it is available to anyone that wants to spin up their own Gab.com.

Granted, there are other huge infrastructure issues in doing so. But those issues are solved off-the-shelf. You don't have to develop your own server hardware and networking equipment. Simply add money and purchase. The software component of this is the time consuming element.

I am using Gab’s Dissenter browser to post this. Definitely an improvement over Chrome, and so far as I know it doesn’t spy on you like Chrome.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/80.0.3987.149 Safari/537.36

Hey jacknhoo, I’m old and not familiar with any of the payment options. What’s the alternative?

If you’re referring to the Dissenter browser, it is free:

Who owns the cable and fiber optics lines that connects us all to the Internet?

there are several owners, mostly on evil side. Verizon, AT&T, Comcrap at the most local/regional level. I don't know who owns the big pipes, but assume the same.

I can download the Dissenter browser app but my MacBook won’t allow me to open it “because it isn’t from the App Store”. Any observations and/or ideas, please?

It depends on your version of mac os x but generally if you click on the apple icon in the upper left, then click on the ‘Security and Privacy’ icon in the popup and then click on the lock to allow changes, you will see under the ‘General’ tab a choice about where apps are allowed from.

Thank you for taking the time to find and post that link.
Some people didn't seem to get the memo that twitter has lost its luster.

“Torba is brilliant, forward looking, and a patriot.”

Yes, he is. He knows very well what he’s doing and the risks involved. Support his company by being active on Gab.

I was pretty sure that that was still the case. So how long ‘til access to the pipes is restricted.
