Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has reportedly told his Republican colleagues that President Donald Trump committed impeachable offenses and that he is fine with Democrats moving forward with impeachment.
The New York Times released a report Tuesday, citing anonymous sources, saying that McConnell is pleased Democrats will try to impeach Trump, as it will help separate the Republican party from Trump. Rioters supporting Trump stormed the U.S. capitol Wednesday, committing acts of vandalism and violence and postponing the electoral college certification process, forcing members of Congress to evacuate the building.
Democrats in the House of Representatives introduced at least one article of impeachment against Trump on Monday morning after the pro-Trump mob stormed the U.S. Capitol.

RE: I’m not sure that a leader of the party wants to lose 72 million voters
I keep seeing numbers like this being thrown about in article after article - 72 million, 74 million, 75 million, even 80 million Trump voters.
Not sure which figure is closest to the most accurate....
let’s set up our own voting sites, verify against the voter rolls and show him his real “popularity” in real time, for the next 48 mos. might make him resign or switch to his real party: dem.
I think they are a bridge too far on this. My 12 year old granddaughter told me “Nana we can’t be republicans any more, they are not doing right by President Trump.”
Jonathan Turley appears to be saying the same thing.
‘
Right, because this would be so out of character for Joe’s friend that blocked subpoenas of the Biden operation for four years.
Didn’t Mitch McConnell just side with the Democrats on the Election?
‘
They undermined Trump for four years and pulled Joe across the finish line.
They want Trump on the run.
No need to convict, a second Impeachment will be on his record.
‘
And of course Fox News is using this story for their story.
Changing the line up isn’t going to help you Fox News.
Liz Cheney needs to be thrown out of office.
They want him impeached so they can take away his Secret Service detail so they can murder him as a private citizen.
Iran will drone him when Biden’s CIA gives them the coordinates
Its already in the works
After he’s gone
We are all next.
If the House is foolish enough to vote to impeach the President, then President Trump should demand a trial before the Senate, even after he has left office. Make them prove he incited the riot, which they cannot and then mount his defense, which would be his chance to present to the Nation the evidence of election irregularities.
Wrong. He doesn’t care as long as he is in the unitary club. He hates the 75 million and more.
When she ran for senate she was laughed out of the primary with a decent challenger she’s cooked
Every “Republican” Senator up in 2022 need to be primaried and if they win lose the general. They suck.

And separate it from a large part of their voters! Maybe McConnell didn’t really express that opinion, but he has said some other things publicly that are pretty bad. I usually support voting for the lesser of evils, any Republican over a Democrat — and doubt that a new party will have a chance (not if Trump supporters can’t win in primaries with presumably more conservative voters than in the general election). If we’ve reached the point at which we can’t trust elections, though — or the courts, or the news media, or the educational system — it may be time to give up on them.
Maybe it’s time to resort to civil disobedience (though unlike the situation with the passive resistance of the early civil rights struggle, the federal government and news media won’t be on the side of the protesters, and will allow the police and groups like Antifa to attack them with impunity). Maybe it’s time to push for “sanctuary areas” where the current regime’s orders will be ignored. Or to demand secession if the rights of the opposition aren’t respected.
Let’s hope there are some intermediate steps between here and civil war. I don’t advocate one. If millions of otherwise peaceful persons — as nearly everyone on the right is — turn to violence, it will be a terrible thing for both sides (nothing comparable to the illegal but relatively mild occupation of the Capitol).
That will be the last resort, of course, but if the regime and its oligarchic cohorts — take away free speech — and insist on persecuting the opposition, it can happen (if not open confrontation, widespread and continuing terrorist attacks — this country panics if a handful of persons launch attacks, e.g., the couple of snipers in Virginia decades ago. How could it manage hundreds of thousands of them?) Don’t they realize that in trying to crush the opposition they are playing with fire?
I really am beginning to think the best approach is try to infiltrate the Democrats and try to bring them back towards the center.
The Republicans are irrelevant now, so might as well get with the winning team.
75 million is the one reported early on and most often.
Why is the Daily Caller repeating this flaptrap?
I like that idea. It’s w win win for Trump...
