After Twitter banned President Trump, and the hosting company Amazon Web Services suspended conservative network Parler, another social media site found its name in the news: Gab. The site, which looks like a mash-up of Twitter and Facebook, calls itself “the free speech social network” and has welcomed extremist right-wing figures and believers of QAnon, the loose collection of conspiracy theories that touch on everything from politics to covid-19.

There is probably an active Deny of Service attack going on at Gab.
Torba has taken so much crap from these people, he no longer cares what they say or think about him.
I did too. I entered my email and pswrd during setup, it was supposed to send me a confirmation email and my phone just froze on that page. I think their system is overwhelmed because it did set up my account even though I never received the confirmation and had to shut down the sign-up page.

I signed up yesterday. Painfully slow, had to reload pages several times to get through the email confirmation process and start following other gabbers.
Logging in today, the process is different, takes 5-10 seconds, and has “DDOS protection by CloudFlare” banner.
Though I think most of the slowness yesterday and today is due to Gab’s struggle to meet legitimate demand for new accounts and usage, there is definitely a malicious component working as well.
Glad they own their own hardware and have taken steps to prevent DDOS attacks. Hope their ISP isn’t bullied into cutting them off.
Did you know that neo-nazis and kiddie porn creeps communicate using Verizon, AT&T, Apple, and google made phones and/or networks? And over Comcast networks? Pass it on!
BARF ALERT.😝
Gab, like Free Republic, allows assholes trolls and posers to post with impunity. The more intelligent and responsible grown ups spot right away them and their agenda. Q was an unfortunate phenomena that swept up many naive patriots in a myriad of platforms into a false hope. Some of us here on FR were even caught up in it, to an extent that we partook in or humored it’s discussion. Gab shows great promise to become as much a solid platform as FR has become. We learn to ignore antagonistic behavior and in fighting as unproductive and time wasting and are more and more aware and weary of possible plants by the enemy. Just step around the pile of shit and move on. It’s always going to be there but we see better these days. The enemy is showing it’s hand in more and more obvious ways because of the panic and desperation in their futile attempt to destroy us. I don’t put Q in that “pile of shit” but any thing of a disheartening nature is usually accompanied by dark forces.
NNTP servers for newsgroups are out there and news readers are open source. We just got to pick one set of them and use secure communications to them. The bandwidth for 60,000,000 users was less than a bad netflix movie back in the day.
The press can stay with their blue checks, the rest of us, as we see here just need a bit of place to throw up words.
WashPoo the billionaire’s paper that ran stories planted by the CIA....
Begins AGAIN you mean !
Yeah, tried yesterday and got some sort of internet message saying site was unavailable.
Not Twit or Fakebook or Compost. Was there something more I needed to know?
They have been up and down with the need for new bandwidth to take on more subscribers, e.g. almost 700,000 in one day.
If you really want to see the Gab smear, then checkout the Wikipedia for GAB. You’d think it was the private chat site of the KKK.
Thank you Washington post,I am now registered on Gab!!!
Oh my...(the creativity of some people NEVER ceases to amaze me)
Still having issue with GAB - it seems very Beta, not ready for prime time at all
