We’re talking about it in a rural county about 100 miles east of DFW.

[Media and the lefties syncophants are saturating the air and internet with 24/7 propaganda and Trump hate, trying to shame Trump supporters.

But the people aren’t buying it. Trump approval is going UP.]

The moral equivalent of a frat house panty raid, with interlopers breaking a few windows while barging into the building, rearranging the furniture, taking selfies and finagling souvenirs, is being recast by the media as 9/11 and Pearl Harbor rolled into one. The only real violence consisted of a badge-wielding moron lung-shooting an unarmed woman (from which she bled to death) and a cop getting brained with a fire extinguisher during a scuffle (from which he walked away, dying later from internal injuries). What’s disgraceful is the hysterical overwrought media coverage treating this like Auschwitz redux and the dictatorial initiatives opportunistically being introduced by Biden and Pelosi.

Back in the day when America was still America, in my business in the military we considered a communications stand down an indicator of something afoot...usually ominous.

Some may realize this is not a good time to be talking about certain things in public or on the internet.

Just sayin'

I am an artist. Before Covid I attended weekly sketching meet-ups with other artists. The progressives who attended where very vocal. The others silent.

Hey! If the artist community knew I was a constitutionalist every door in my state's art community would be loudly slammed as they kicked me out the door. No more awards or economic opportunities for me. I would be totally shunned.

“Get used to it. Free speech is gone”

Free speech still exists. What has changed is access to private sector communications platforms is becoming more restricted by the operators, and the organized left is putting pressure on companies and organizations to ostracize people exercising speech the left doesn’t like.

This behavior is not new, it is just now occurring at a more obvious and rapid pace. Fifty years ago if you had a problem with a local business and wanted to buy an ad in the monopoly local newspaper to inform the public of the problem, the paper would likely not have accepted your ad. Or if you wrote a letter to the editor of the newspaper criticizing a politician the paper endorsed, it likely would not be printed. When my grandparents were young, in the rural south, it was suicide in the community to publicly criticize the local sheriff. A black man who spoke out against segregation would lose his employment and not be able to find work. In the 1960’s fire hoses and dogs were turned on peaceful protestors. Lincoln stifled free speech and the press during the civil war. The exercise of free speech has been restricted and stifled through intimidation throughout US history.

Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are the primary replacements for the town’s monopoly newspapers of decades ago. They are private businesses, free to accept or decline service. Employers are free to hire and fire you based on your public behavior.

You are free to speak. You can stand on your own property and say anything you wish. You can get a permit and march on a public street saying whatever you wish and the government cannot stop you. The government cannot deny you public services, or access to public places, based on your exercise of free speech. However private individuals can take action against you. Employers can fire you for speaking out or choose not to hire you. Your neighbor can shun you. The country club can deny you membership. A plumber can refuse to perform services for you.

Free speech is not absolute. If you slander someone who is not a public figure with falsehoods they can sue you for libel. If you say something in the public sector which may cause others harm you may be prosecuted for inciting violence. In other words you can say “Joe Biden is a corrupt politician” all day long without government taking action. However, if you yell at an armed mob, “Let’s go down to city hall, burn it down, and string up the mayor”, you may be arrested and charged with a crime.

As to Twitter, Facebook, YouTube if they censor you, or shut you down, you can move to an alternative platform or start your own. If your employer fires you for a Twitter post or appearing at a political event, you can apply for a job somewhere else or start your own business.

Free speech has not ended. However there are sometimes repercussions from speaking out. There always have been and always will be.

Thanks. I was curious about this. I had assumed that anyone could load an Android app via an email or entered link, but wasn’t positive. You have answered my question.

If Apple has permanently prevented iPhones from loading Parler, they just lost 75 plus million potential customers. I, for one, will never buy another Apple product. (I have an Android phone, but my wife has an Apple.)

The ones that are aware of what is going on are also aware that free speech is dead.

I was at Flushing Cemetery in NYC the day after the rally and the machine operator and a groundsman were verbally ripping into each other, diametrically opposed. I could hear them from 200 ft away. It went on for 25 min.

As impossible as it may sound to FReepers, about half the people in this country don't care or don't know anything at all about who has political power.

As long as they are entertained (most of them through their MCD's -- Mind Control Devices -- that is, their cell phones), and have food in their belly and a roof over their head, they simply do not care. Think Bread and Circuses.

This is all by design from the Left. People who are apathetic are easier to control.

the purpose of cutting off communications is to arrest and detain-at BEST

most Americans have little comprehension of what is about to come next..but probably all that is in the history books about eastern European and Russian totalitarianism is about to be visited upon the USA

The 2A won’t work in this setting. Give some thought to that. The 2A requires that the 1A be operational-and no its not turned around BTW. Isolated exercise of the 2A is a prescription for a dirt nap in the above setting

This is what I overheard on jan 6 as things were going down in DC:

Breathless White Woman: “Oh My God! Did you hear what happened?”
Black Woman: “What happened??”
Shocked White Woman: “Kim and Kanye are getting a divorce!!”
Black Woman: “Oh I know who do you date after Kanye?
Let down White Woman: “I know poor Kim!! Kanye is like a billionaire!”

I guess we are seeing the fruition of Obama’s million man civilian army: Antifa and BLM. Now where did all that ammunition that was purchased by Obama’s administration go to?

Likewise smart to not communicate with your communist leaders in government.

They will have their on brigades trained at exposing counter-revolutionaries. The Karen brigades.

Funny you should say that...I spoke with 3 different shuttle drivers upon my return from DC on Thursday, and they were very excited/happy I went to the march/rally/protest. One even thanked me for going.

That literally is true. This morning I started moving out of shock and was finally able to cry.

My old man was on a trip just out of high school in Europe, and was in a youth hostel in Germany. He asked one of the Germans about this guy he had heard about. Hitler. The German looked around and whispered “not now”.

Four or five years later dad was in the war.

Talk about “normalcy bias”. Even back then. Dad, an American kid, from a middle-class family with enough funds to send him on a trip to Europe, visit relatives, etc. His main concern was college in the Fall.

A few years later he is fighting against enemies willing to wipe his relatives out.
