Link includes a lovely short video.
God, another important piece of my youth taken.
RIP Tommy. You were the soul of the Dodgers. All we have left is its heart, Vin Scully (who is still kicking even if he is retired).

Who was it that had a long series of one year contracts?

He was a great Dodger manager, and now he finally gets to meet the Great Dodger in the Sky that he often spoke of.
Heck, he looked old 45 years ago. Too much pasta.
If he were managing today, I doubt he would buy into all of the baseball analytics with those crazy fielding shifts. Though he WAS a believer in hitting for power, and persuaded Garvey to hit for more HRs and less average. It worked.

RIP Tommy from a fellow DelVal native. Tell Smokey Alston (and Danny Ozark [Dodger coach and later Phillies mgr. who you beat in two NLCS's]) we Phightins faithful said hi.

RIP Tommy. You were a part of my life for many years. Glad you got to see the Blue Crew once again world champs.

I’ll never forget Lasorda running out of the dugout like a little kid after Kirk Gibson hit his incredible one-handed series-saving home run back in the 80’s.
What was funny, was that I was and am no kind of baseball fan. But a die-hard Dodger fan friend was over and the TeeVee was on. I just happened to walk by the TeeVee about 3 seconds before Gibson hit that ball. My pal was obviously sweating bullets. This was in LA. It was like the whole town fell out of its chair when Gibson hit that ball. And I only had to watch about 4 minutes of the game!

Hate the Dodgers. Liked much of their players. Liked Lasorda. A good guy.

Danny Ozark [Dodger coach and later Phillies mgr. who you beat in two NLCS's]) we Phightins faithful said hi.
After the Phillies replaced Danny Ozark with Dallas Green, Lasorda brought Ozark back as 3rd Base Coach. I still love watching 40 year old Vic Davalillo beat out that lead-off bunt in the '77 (or was it '78) playoffs.
