Capitol riot is the product of years of hateful rhetoric, experts say (fraud diversion)

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - The storming of the U.S. Capitol is a jarring but natural product of years of violence and hateful rhetoric stoked by disinformation and conspiracy theories, experts on far-right extremism said as they pored over images of Wednesday’s riot.

Members of far-right groups, including the violent Proud Boys, joined the crowds that formed in Washington to cheer on President Donald Trump as he urged them to protest Congress’ counting of Electoral College votes confirming President-elect Joe Biden’s win. Then they headed to the Capitol. Members of smaller white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups also were spotted in the crowds. Police were photographed stopping a man identified as a leading promoter of the QAnon conspiracy theory from storming the Senate floor.

Online forums popular with Trump supporters lit up with gleeful posts about the chaotic scenes broadcast from the Capitol. Thousands of messages on Parler, a right-wing alternative to Twitter, included the hashtag #civilwar or other variations of the term.

“If you’re surprised, you haven’t been paying attention,” said Integrity First for America executive director Amy Spitalnick. “We should all be horrified by this, but nobody should be surprised that this is happening.”

Spitalnick’s civil rights group is backing a federal lawsuit filed by victims of the violence that erupted at the August 2017 white nationalist “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, that left a counterprotester dead. One of the far-right fringe figures who had been listed as a speaker at the Charlottesville rally was live streaming video of the Capitol melee on Wednesday.

I was there, it was a mostly peaceful protest.

The riots happened last summer where whole blocks of cities were burned to the ground.
Those were called mostly peaceful protests by the Ministry of Propaganda.

way-outdated, but an indictment of the FakeNewsMSM that extends to the present...and beyond, no doubt:

I would argue it’s both, though mostly the frustration with the election. However, the overall anger and disappointment at the ill-chosen electors is tied to the years of hateful rhetoric.

Trump was voted in because the average person was angry with being treated like dirt by previous administrations and Congresscritters, on top of being vilified by the media supporting them. The more hateful the rhetoric, the more the people leaned on Trump and his particular brand of politics for solace and to be heard. This year, the media went gangbusters during the election, making the average center-right American seem like an @sshole to those of opposing political leanings, on top of denying that any fraud whatsoever took place. The political opposite took the media’s words as absolute truth, further pushing the notion that zero fraud happened. Not only that, but they believe that any and all coverage of candidates was perfectly fair, which we know it was not; in ANY sense.

Therefore, intertwined.

Re: Carter gives clemency to Puerto Rican terrorists in 1979.

I completely forgot about that.

And, I just realized why Carter did that...

There is a very large population of Puerto Ricans in New York state.

If Carter had lost New York to Ford in 1976, Gerald Ford would have been reelected.

Carter was worried about holding New York in 1980.

With good reason - Reagan won New York in 1980.

"No mention of the Mueller report. Or Russia. Or Cankles. Or Hussein. Or Portland. Or the Summer of Love. Or Milwaukee. Nope.

The left is really having a hard time coping with the idea that American citizens are standing up to them.

Better save that photo, I think Twitter just purged it. I went for a walk and it was gone when I got back.
