Ketchup on eggs can be a subject of intense debate. Is this a combination you grew up with, or is the idea completely foreign to you? Based off of casual conversation here at The Takeout, it’s clear that for every enthusiast, there’s a hater who despise the very idea of Heinz on the breakfast table. And as a condiment, people have very strong feelings about ketchup more generally, like whether or not it belongs on hot dogs or, as we’ve discussed amongst ourselves previously, on burgers. So what do you think? Does ketchup belong on eggs?

Ketchup is fine on eggs as long as you can also smother the butter and herb fried potatoes chunks and bacon with it at the same time.

Lots of mayonnaise and mustard on burgers, no ketchup.

Ketchup doesn’t belong on anything. It’s awful.
Ketchup is supposed to be in Indonesian dish that has clams in it. I don’t know how we got to the current version.
What I’ve noticed is that children and adults that are still children at heart tend to like ketchup. Old curmudgeons like me only like ketchup on fries.
Gold’s Jalepeno ketchup. Abso-frickin-lutely.

I like Hatch’s roasted and diced green chili with my scrambled eggs.

And Mayo and mustard....Dukes Mayo preferably

You are not alone. My son texted me a picture of the plated breakfast he made the other day. My response was ‘I see you like a little egg in your ketchup” I believe he’s convinced ketchup is one of the blocks on the food pyramid.
His late grandfather put ketchup on mashed potatoes, so he comes by it genetically I guess.

Scrambled eggs, no. Tabasco or salsa only. Now a good fried egg burger, that’s different. Mustard with a small amount of ketchup is really good.

Delicious on fries, and I'm a salt and vinegar guy.
