Texas Longhorns Have Hired (Alabama OC) Steve Sarkisian As Its New Head Football Coach
TD Alabama Magazine ^ | 1-3-2021 | Stephen M. Smith

Nick Saban has graduated another member from his coaching rehab at the University of Alabama.

After the Crimson Tide earned a 31-14 win over Notre Dame in the Rose Bowl Game, reports starting flying about Steve Sarkisian possibly becoming the new head football coach for the Texas Longhorns. According to sources, yours truly of Touchdown Alabama Magazine learned the same information. In the craziness of this Saturday, there was even a report about Sarkisian potentially turning the job down.

At the end of the day, the Longhorns have made it official with the 46-year-old.

Texas parted ways from Tom Herman after having him for four seasons.

It targeted this year’s Broyles Award winner, and the nation’s top assistant coach has accepted.

With that being said, sources have still confirmed with me that Sarkisian will coach the College Football Playoff National Championship Game for the Tide against Ohio State on Monday, Jan. 11 at HardRock Stadium in Miami, Fla.

Through two season, he operated a powerful offense at Alabama.

Muschamp will thrive as a defensive coordinator. He is living proof of the Peter Principle as a head coach.

That was Lane Kiffin. Sark came in and coached the championship game offense and lost.

This cost to UT to fire Tom Herman and his staff is $25 million.

Herman walks away with $15 million.

That’s not a bad day.

Herman took over a disaster from Strong. I went to a UT/TCU game during Strong era and UT could not even line up properly.

Who cares? Wokeball no longer interests me. It’s not a boycott, it’s indifference.

No. Lane Kiffin was the Offensive Coordinator. Kiffin had accepted a head coaching job at Florida Atlantic. Saban had to let him go before the Championship game. Sarkisian was on staff in an off-the-field capacity. He stepped up and took over for Kiffin.

Catty Sark’s reply to the job offer? “I’ll drink to that!”

Word is the pampered players at Texas didn’t like being held accountable. Texas is also losing the recruiting battles in the state to A&M, Oklamoma, and some other SEC schools.

Will be interesting to see how well Mike Leach does in recruiting and developing offensive talent in the SEC. He was great at Texas Tech and Washington State. He got Gordan Minshew into the NFL; that’s an accomplishment. Minshew was ready to sign with Alabama as a Senior transfer. Leach called him and asked if he wanted to sit on the bench at Alabama or lead the nation in passing. That sealed the deal.

Leach had to pretty much spend this year starting to change the culture, it will take a few seasons, but it will bear fruit.

Between Kiffin and Sark, you guys sure had a lot of coaching drama over the years.

I think it was a horrible move, too. In 4 years, UT will fire Sarkisian. It’s their pattern. Herman was making progress after inheriting a disaster, and is showed. They should’ve given him another year or two to get his program in fully. UT is too impatient.

I wonder who Saban will give a promotion to. Or will he bring someone new in?

Partner, I will agree with ya in that Sark is an alcoholic and Hermann was doing such a great job as the Football Coach at UT.

Shame on the UT Athletic Board.
