The capitol doesn’t look like this is a peaceful transition of power. It looks like a military junta enduring their figurehead isn’t opposed by political dissidents.— Rich "The People's Pundit" Baris (@Peoples_Pundit) January 18, 2021
None of these extreme measures are necessary and bogus media concern is nauseatingly hypocritical.
Four years ago, #BigMediaHateMachine praised and promoted a mob burning cars, attacking cops and threatening Trump's life.
Media fueled them with a fake collusion conspiracy.
Ironically, the core of the collusion conspiracy was the allegation that Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin — together somehow — had stolen the election from Hillary Clinton, something they knew was a flat out fabrication.
Its intended effect was violence, destruction and disunity.
Point being, the concern is fabricated along with their outrage and conspiracies. They're locking down capitols because they don't want you near them anymore. They don't want you participating, nor bothering them in their important work of stuffing each others' pockets.
This is a textbook desperate power grab by a ruling class that fears its own perpetuity. These are the actions of a political class in a third world country who have recognized they're utter failures at meeting the needs and concerns of their people, so they close themselves off.
Bottom line: These are not the actions of a confident, stable government. They are the actions of a government in the middle of a crisis of credibility.
Could be.
I commend that command! 😉
Great post, Gran!!

I almost expect Biden to show up for the virtual inauguration in full Military Uniform.
When an Airbnb Host Realized His Guests Were Insurrectionists

When a woman from South Carolina told Paul she wanted to rent his upstairs on Airbnb for a “history sight seeing trip” in Washington, D.C., he had no reason to think that she was lying. His rowhouse is in Columbia Heights — about an hour’s hike from the monuments — and the back-and-forth he’d had with the ostensible tourist seemed standard. But as the date of her arrival approached, a neighbor asked him if he happened to have any information about who might be coming to town that week. It hadn’t previously occurred to Paul that his guest might be participating in the “Stop the Steal” protest. It certainly never crossed his mind that he might be quartering insurrectionists.
A longtime Airbnb host, Paul already suspected he wouldn’t have a ton of ability to vet his guests when accepting their bookings. As part of its effort to root out racial discrimination, the company penalizes hosts who renege on an arrangement after receiving a customer’s photo. He wanted to prevent a ding on his profile, sure, but also generally felt weird about canceling. After all, who was he, “a die-hard Democrat and a supporter of American democracy generally,” to say that people couldn’t come to make their voices heard?
But when the woman who called herself Melissa arrived on January 5 with seven other people, Paul kept one eye on the news and the other on the exterior cameras he’d installed around his property. Then, at 7:30 in the morning on January 6, he watched with trepidation from the rowhouse’s basement apartment as his visitors headed southeast toward the Capitol with a MAGA flag. “That’s when I was like, ‘Oh fuck, I’ve got a problem,’” he said.
Everyone knows what happened next. Trump supporters — many of whom had traveled from out of town — attacked the Capitol as lawmakers voted to certify the results of the presidential election, leaving five people dead. But as millions watched the scene play out on cable news, Paul was panicking about the chaos that might soon be returning to his home. He called Airbnb customer service looking for guidance. A representative said he would give him a call back, though no one did. All he could do was stay glued to the cameras and watch one of his guests who had returned pace on the porch, pull from a Miller Lite, and, according to footage reviewed by Intelligencer, say into his cell phone:
“We stormed the Capitol, we got inside of it.”
Paul’s stomach dropped as he learned more about his guest’s true intentions in coming to D.C.: “Trump said we’re gonna march over to the Capitol Building … And we’re going to tell them what’s been happening,” the man said. “To be honest, they deserved it.”
Fearing for his safety, Paul left to go stay at a friend’s place. (He agreed to tell his story on a first-name basis owing to these same concerns for his well-being.) When he woke up, he had two messages, also reviewed by Intelligencer, from Airbnb’s support staff: the first at almost midnight requesting more information and another about an hour later saying Airbnb had closed his case since it didn’t receive a response while he was asleep. Realizing he wasn’t going to be able to get any assurances from Airbnb that his guests would be banned from using the platform in the future, he sent his footage to the FBI tip line and hoped it would arrest them. (Airbnb said it has now “suspended the guest pending a thorough investigation.” The FBI declined to comment.)
When Paul finally returned home the next day, it looked as if no one had been there except for a lone cigarette butt outside his front door. If he didn’t also have video evidence that they were insurrectionists, they would have been perfect guests, worthy of a five-star review, he said.
Good post.
Well, I am feeling even better about the NSA pick:

The attempt to install an unqualified Trump loyalist as NSA General Counsel just 72 hours prior to the start of a new Administration is highly irregular and highly suspect. This placement should not move forward.
The D.C. National Guard plays a significant and special role in Presidential Inaugurations, a tradition starting in the earliest days of our nation. The National Guard has been present at every Presidential Inauguration, starting with an honor detail which rode with President Washington in recognition of his time as Virginia’s militia commander. The D.C. National Guard has consistently supported presidential inaugurations beginning with the 1860 Inauguration of President Abraham Lincoln. The election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860 triggered several southern states to secede from the Union. There was no secret service at the time, but Lieutenant General Winfield Scott ordered the D.C. Militia to protect the president-elect from harm. The D.C. Militia guarded the parade route, sappers preceded the president-elect, and cavalry rode alongside him, bucking their horses to make it difficult for snipers to get a lock.
The D.C. National Guard's support of the inauguration has also incorporated the assistance of both Army and Air National Guard units from across the states and territories, with the D.C. National Guard as the lead unit. This was evident during the 58th Inauguration of President Donald J. Trump, which included the support of 7,800 National Guard personnel from the District of Columbia, 43 states and 3 territories. Additionally, the D.C. Guard provides stand-by support for State of the Union Addresses and other events for the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government.
More than 7,000 National Guard Soldiers and Airmen from 44 states, two territories and the District of Columbia, are sworn in as Special Police for the 58th Presidential Inauguration in 2013. This swearing-in ceremony is a formal protocol that allows troops to perform their specific duties within the D.C. area.
Ha! Love it!!
If Nanzi’s whining......it’s GOTTA be a GREAT thing!
Paul is really a Karen.
What a drama queen if the highest degree “Paul” is.
Leftist Allie Conti is quite the creative writer. I wonder how long it took her to create/conjure up “Paul”, for this drivel?
Sounds like a hoax .... Sachar Bar-On....sounds like Sacha Baron Cohen.
The principal of a Tennessee high school has been suspended from his duties for daring to criticize the unprecedented censorship enacted by Big Tech companies against President Donald Trump earlier this month.
Principal Barton Thorne of Cordova High School in Memphis had been speaking in a teleconference in which he condemned the riot at the US Capitol. Throne also slammed the censorship that followed the event, comparing Twitter and Facebook’s censorship to Joseph McCarthy’s sham accusations in the 1950’s.
“There have been times even in American history where a small group of people decided what you could hear. You think about “McCarthyism. If you don’t know about that, you can Google that or talk to your Social Studies teacher,” said Thorne.
“It’s what’s going on with Twitter and Facebook and Google and Apple, and their decision as private companies to filter and to decide what you, you hear and know about.”
Thorne was almost immediately suspended by the Shelby County School district, pending an official “review” of his totally innocuous comments. Thorne later drafted an email apology, bowing for his transgression against the authority of tech oligarchs.
The American education used to instill the values of free speech and political liberty in those it taught. Fidelity to such concepts have been cast to the wayside, sidelined in favor of indoctrination into the American elite’s racial caste system and liberal ideology.
Hehe
There was another Karen story at the site. Now they’ll probably vet renters to make sure they’re not conservatives.
That is, if you aren't on a no-fly list to get to your AirBnB.
