Welcome to The Bicycle Thread. A monthly PING List for bicycle enthusiasts to share experiences, information and ideas.
Turning 70 in a couple of weeks. Ordered a new saddle for my old sit bones: a Selle Anatomica. I hope it helps. I’m down to 10 miles a day, weather permitting, and would like to keep to this course.
At the start at Texas Motor Speedway, will they wave a green flag? Oh will they say ‘Bikers, start your pedalling?’ π
You can get small hub motors and also don’t need a huge battery. A LIPO battery pack that would fit in one hand would give you a range of 20+ miles if you were half peddling, half whacking the gas.
Concur on E-bikes. I have an E-trike (Sun Traditional). Bought it because I have bad knees/hips and can only pedal for limited time. With the “e-feature”, I can “pedal ‘til things hurt” and then “throttle ‘til things no longer hurt”...then rinse and repeat. Lovin’ it. ‘Tis the only way that biking is even possible.
Since overall bikes are very scarce then I think that time is almost now.
And that is despite such prorogation as "October's Data Indicates China's Recovery Is Complete www.yicaiglobal.com Nov 20, 2020." I am still waiting for Ebay items from China (like small items no longer made here) for up to 12 weeks versus the usual 2 to 3.
Exactly! Bought this e-bike for $899.

That was 6 months ago and now have 600 miles and still loving it. Fun to go that extra 5mph and have that extra assist on starts and uphills. Makes riding even more fun.
They start outside the speedway and go out in the country
I need to buy a 14mm hex key to put my Campagnolo Centaur triple crank on the SOMA San MArcos. The Sam Hillborne is geared too low for Houston.
These are to pricey for me but if you have the cash you probably will not find a better ebike.
Yes, that Lemond!
Wow those are slick, I always liked the batteries in the downtube, less flashing of “I’M AN EXPENSIVE E-BIKE, PLEASE STEAL ME”.
She makes me feel young.
You are welcome! βΊπ²π
It may be more aesthetic to have a hidden battery, but in 4-6 years when it needs replacement....much, much less expensive to get an off the shelf generic battery than to be forced to get it from the manufacturer.
Agree. But some don’t mind spending the extra money for the slickness. I don’t like paying full retail for anything, ever. So I make my own packs. Years ago I bought hundreds of genuine A123 cells at a huge discount (product that went toes up). They are incredible batteries. Massive current output, totally flat discharge curve. You can’t get these anymore.
