We’re on day 4 of the hotel occupation and settling in for night 4! [According to The News Tribute, “After paying for the initial night, the occupants have refused to pay or leave for four days.”] Negotiations with the hotel owner, city, and county start tomorrow, but we have 50-70 people ready to defend if needed. Housing activists from Tacoma Housing Now, Seattle (the Yellow House), and Olympia have coalesced into a broad Puget Sound coalition that will support housing actions in each other’s cities. Most of our medics on-site are veterans of the recent far-Right battles in Olympia that saw two antifascist protestors shot. We’re also in a chat with housing organizers from Philly, Ashland OR, Medford OR, El Sereno CA, and Los Angeles trading tactics and media tips — the national movement is growing.
We’re currently in the unique position of allying with the hotel owner, because we’ve made it clear to him that we want to get him paid. We’ve started contacting city council members and will contact the rest of the city council and county council tomorrow, so CARES and/or FEMA money can be used to pay for hotel rooms.
While the City of Tacoma claims to provide hotel vouchers for houseless people, nobody we’ve talked to has ever seen these mysterious vouchers. Other, smaller towns in our county are paying for hotel rooms, so Tacoma should, too. Our message is that there’s room at the inn: pay for it!
That’s the one! LOL.
The wife and I were doing some traveling and we stayed in a small motel in Asheville. It was one of those older, one-story long & low motel affairs with all the doors facing the gravel parking lot. The place was immaculate, with lots of recent refurbishing, new roof, interior/exterior paint, etc. We stayed one night and left the next day. We were a few hours away in a different part of NC for the Woolly Worm Festival when we got a call from the motel. We’d left a bag in the room with some very delicate Asheville Craft Festival purchases. We decided to drive back to Asheville that night...and stay at the same motel. Folks stayed up late to check us in.
You KNOW what their name was, right? Gave them a heck of a review.
Most hotels/motels require a credit card when checking in. Just run up the card.
Down here in Texas, we have scorpions, rattlesnakes, and other sundry critters.
Tow the vehicles.
Have fire Dept.s set up
Riot control gas (CS) through the windows.
Pipe in the legionnaire’s bacteria?
Hard to stop a rolling ball once it starts down the hill.
Always ‘nip’ balls in the bud!
If this was Proud Boys or Grandma and Grandpa, they would be in jail day one.
They would have gangs in other places just waiting to start fires or injure people.
Because they are of the same ilk and they agree with it. They enable it like enabling a drug addict.
This is how these blighted democRATic controlled states and cities become shit holes. Because the leaders allow this crap and let it happen. They are not real leaders. They're afraid to make the right decisions to stop it for fear offending the homeless and criminal elements. So they do nothing. Until eventually the rot consumes the whole area.
Why even democRATic taxpayers would continue to throw their money down a rat hole is beyond me but the mentally ill are not rational.
They enable the problem to continue because they don't have the huevos to do what it right to stop it. As a matter of fact, they don't want to stop it.
They are afraid to do the right thing for fear of offending the homeless, the drug addicts and the criminal element that have invaded Tacoma and Seattle. So the problems get worse, not better.
If you've lived in western Washington state in the inland valley cities and haven't left yet, then you are part of the problem.
Years ago people held the FBI in high regard, most of it anyway. Who would ever trust them now?

Lie down with DOGS, get up with FLEAS!
Crap, I have a truck enroute to the Port of Tacoma that I have to pick up in less than two weeks. This does not bode well.
The hotel manager can shut off the power and water.
You also have Conservatives...unknown here in MA.😀
I'll bet that if the owner refused to pay his taxes, the police would be all over him.
After learning more about the owner, I have done an about face.
Point of fact there are only a very few grizzlies in the north cascades and they wandered down from Canada.
The fed ecocrud has been trying to put grizzlies in the WA cascades and WA has fought it for several years. Recently they finally won.
You will be fine. This is up the road some.
I'm coming from SeaTac.
