Dawn Wells, Mary Ann on 'Gilligan's Island,' Dies at 82

Dawn Wells, the girl-next-door actress and former beauty queen who played the sweet Mary Ann Summers on the iconic CBS sitcom Gilligan's Island, died Tuesday. She was 82.

Wells died in Los Angeles of causes related to COVID-19, her publicist announced.

And Keith is actually a little younger than Dawn Wells. He’s 77, but doesn’t look a day over 350. :)

Every time I saw her interviewed, she was as lovely inside as out. Sorry that she had no family to help her in her troubles a few years ago. Hope she was compassionately cared for in her last days.

As a kid i was so obsessed over Mary Ann that i really never even noticed ginger.
Over a looong time, say a few years ago i finally gave a good look at ginger and came to the conclusion that yea she pretty hot too...

Well, Gilligan’s Island debuted in 1964, so she was probably 25 then. I remember reading somewhere that she and Bob Denver were both heavy pot smokers... constantly stoned. The latter didn’t surprise me, but the former kinda did as she played it so wholesome.

Some years back, there was a TV movie called, “The Making of Gilligan’s Island.”

It was hosted by Dawn Wells and was almost a semi-documentary.

The movie re-created the time Dawn Wells boarded a commercial airline flight and, while still at the gate, all the other passengers started singing the theme to Gilligan’s Island. I have to admit, I know all the words myself.

I just looked at that pic in post 25 and for the first time ever noticed Ginger really was hot! Not one time ever before just a minute ago did I notice. Still love Mary Ann but learned something new!
