Alec Baldwin impersonated the accent of his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, and claimed, "My wife is from Spain," during an appearance on David Letterman's late-night talk show in 2013, according to an old clip that has surfaced online.
Hilaria Baldwin's heritage has faced new scrutiny after she recently confirmed she was born in Massachusetts -- and not Spain, as she had previously claimed.
In a 2013 interview with Letterman on CBS's "The Late Show," Baldwin told the host his wife was from Spain, then used a fake accent while impersonating her on the phone with a hairdresser or friend.
"My wife is from Spain," Baldwin said afterward. "I don’t mean to be racist when I put that accent on, by the way."

I don’t recall this kind of outrage when Elizabeth Warren’s lack of American Indian heritage was uncovered. What about the BLM-type activists that were actually white identifying as black? Maybe Hilaria identifies Hispanic? Liberal leftists opened this can of worms so they should just keep quiet about it.
By the way, I think it’s horrible that people identify as a minority for self-promotion and opportunistic reasons. But I also don’t believe in inherently divisive identity politics.

Don’t confuse them with people of Moorish descent.
But, I am sure that Hilaria really admires the Spanish people so it is OK. Besides, I am sure that Alex was confused by all the bright lights when he was on Letterman, or he just heard the question wrong. That must be it. He heard the question wrong.
I worked in NYC for 20+ years. I had New Yorkers tell me I was a New Yorker. But I would NEVER tell anyone I was a New Yorker because...well...I'm not a New Yorker.
At least Michigan Madonna, when she adopted a cheesy British accent, never told anyone she was from the U.K.
