I’ll check back later, for the jokes of Leslie Nielsen saying nice beaver in that movie, the exit sign for Big Beaver Road, etc.

Outdoors/Rural/wildlife/hunting/hiking/backpacking/National Parks/animals list please FR mail me to be on or off . And ping me is you see articles of interest.

Persona non grata in my mind, they're territorial and will kill a swimming dog. Interestingly Evanston, an urban area, has lots of swimming dogs. And trees. Don't know if Evanston does, but many suburbs in the area have ordinances required any tree cut down to be replaced, unless certified by the city as diseased. Now they'll have to make a BeaverLivesMatter exception. But what about the willow's lives?

I enjoyed spotting some in a creek I paddle but a flood last fall caused them to relocate.

“They’re very cute. And how often do you really get to see beavers out there?”

You can say that again!

Beavers are now all over S.E. Michigan, mostly in water shed drain streams........Had a couple that built a dam on the east side of my complex on the watershed and I got a kick out of walking down that road and watching them at work.

That came to an end when one of my homeowners board members called the DNR who came in and trapped the beavers and destroyed the dam.

I was upset at first but a month later, we had a week of torrential rains that would have taken out that road if the dam had been there..........

As a post script, there appears to be beavers back in that area since there are numerous trees that they have been chewing on along the stream bank

If we bring back beaver hats, the problem will solve itself.
