It does feel like the financial Rubicon has been crossed. Never thought I’d see Republicans bitching about only getting $600 from the gov’t, but here we are. With that said, I’d cash those checks too.

“ Is that supposed to be the standard of virtue now? Whatever Trump wants, whatever it is, we’re supposed to be for? ”

No, it was just a question. Trump asked Congress to give people $2k. I simply asked whether you oppose him on this. I guess you do. Fine, that’s obviously your right. What people shouldn’t do is blame this on Dems, because Trump requested it

For myself, one of the things that attracted me to Trump was his willingness to use federal money to help Americans here at home. In contrast, Republican “fiscal conservatives” don’t have any objections to massive federal spent - as long as the money goes for overseas wars and accusations and “aid”, especially in the Middle East.

“ A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.”

“Whatta bout the starve The Pig vote?”
*******************************************
Before the Senate approves the House bill, they should amend it by adding in removal of ALL the pork that Trump pointed out in his impoundment message. Don’t vote for the “sugar” independently of the “medicine”. Keep them together.

#55: "what I do I a problem with is US citizen taxpayers paying for freakin’ gender studies in Pakistan. WHY did Trump sign that?"

What I want to know is who is the assclown who added this to the relief bill? Who? Who? Who? They need to be primaried, R or D, whoever.

Fiscal conservatism became a fraud when “fiscal conservatives” - including at freerepublic - cheered as George Bush invaded Iraq and launched out 20 years of endless mideast wars. They be cost more than $7 trillion so far - most of it borrowed from Chine. And most “fiscal conservatives” still aren’t complaint and still oppose withdrawing from those wars

That bill includes a provision (inserted by Liz Cheney) restricting the president from withdrawing from Afghanistan. So we’re back to the old pre-Trump GOP. We’re back to Cheney’s GOP of endless wars and endless spending on occupations and nationbuilding in the Middle East

We'll lick that Taliban one of these centuries now! Just you wait!

DJT (for whom I voted three times) could propose a communist takeover of the federal government and mandate abortions for every third pregnant woman in the country, and his FR fanboys and fangirls would not only squeal in agreement, but blame every other republican in the country for having prevented communism and mandatory abortion up until now.

it’s beyond ridiculous. it’s actually getting funny now.

LOL. POTUS heels UP could invade every middle east country and the GOPe/Pentagon toe sucking neocons would cheer her on as America’s best came home in boxes on a near daily basis. All Trump is doing here is hoisting the useless GOPe on their own petards for sending billions to those dump holes while our nation is locked down and given peanuts.

Nation building is a waste of time. Most countries do not have the level of inherent education needed for nation building. If the goal is to prevent a country from having the infrastructure needed to support terrorism— like Afghanistan— then the goal is met when the airstrikes destroy their infrastructure. For God’s sake — don’t rebuild! Leave them in shambles. Teach ‘em a f**ing lesson.

Coalitions are by definition vehicles for compromise among their members. The Trump coalition is no different. The abortion folks will likely not compromise on their beliefs re abortion. But it’s not abortion that’s in question here. Many of the anti-abortion people are probably also proponents of this check. They couldn’t care less about other incidental issues. That means if Trump proclaimed himself Caudillo/Lord Protector and followed in Franco’s/Cromwell’s footsteps, that faction might actually cheer him on.

Trump is definitely viewed as a lame duck on his way out. That’s a crushing veto override vote
