Could you please elucidate for me why this entitles blacks living in the U.S. today to reparations? Because very few Americans living here today had any involvement with owning slaves; many come from families who didn't even emigrate to the U.S. until well after the Civil War was over, like mine. And many blacks living here today also emigrated to the U.S. well after the Civil War? Here's another question: who is black [enough] to "qualify" for your "reparations"? Someone with one great-great-great* grandparent who was a slave? Or do you have to have 2? Tell us, O brilliant Jamaal. And how is the amount of these "reparations" to be determined?
After issuing you a huge Bronx cheer at the very stupidity of your asinine idea, I'll offer you and anyone else looking for "reparations" another idea: get off your lazy looking-for-a-payout derriere and get a job. And no, the Federal government (that be us, bro) doesn't "owe" you or any other group a job. You get a job when you have qualifications suitable to perform the job, not as a guarantee. You don't skip classes, fail to do the work entailed with classes, disrupt others trying to learn, have kids out of wedlock, and then expect to be handed a job, just like that, leaving those who worked hard for their degrees standing there empty handed. Can you imagine anyone undergoing surgery by a doctor who got their job that way? Would you trust your finances to an accountant who got their job that way? Or your car to a mechanic who was handed his job just like that? Absolutely NOT! And do you expect the people who had better things to do than sit and study and prepare to support themselves then merit free medical care--Medicare? Absolutely NOT. I'd tell such nervy people to take a short walk off a long pier. And I'm telling you the same, you wannabe hustler. A legislator needs a better role model than Al Sharpton, professional racist and tax cheat. I feel sorry for the people who voted for you, because it must have been in ignorance.
