MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — The theater industry is celebrating after congressional leaders announced that a major funding package known as the "Save Our Stages Act" would be included in the stimulus bill expected to be approved on Monday.

For months, industry leaders and local elected officials have clamored for a federal bailout of performing arts venues, which face an existential crisis as the coronavirus pandemic has shut down nearly all live events since the spring.

On Sunday, Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi confirmed that the agreement with congressional Republicans included $15 billion in funding for live venues, independent movie theaters and cultural institutions.

The Save Our Stages Act was coauthored by Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Republican Sen. John Cornyn.

That way they can bring back Hamilton in order to portray all our founding fathers as not of white races and give non-white actors jobs!

Oh boy! Can I hear old Ben Franklin spinning in his grave.

Let Broadway die. It’s a Marxist paradise.

Cornyn’s idea of a “bipartisan” bailout bill for Save our Stages:

Number of Senate Co-Sponsors:

GOP 16
RAT 41
IND 1

Number of House Co-Sponsors

GOP 23
RAT 151

...this is where our elites cough up $15B of our money for a few theater tickets.

Wouldn’t opening them back up and checking stubhub be a bit cheaper?

More bennies for the rich and well-off. Ordinary folks don’t attend Broadway productions; it’s just not affordable.

See what they said? The 'theater industry'. That's what's wrong.

I got sick to my stomach the first time I heard the term 'music industry'.

But I guess that's all it is anymore; There's no music, just a manufactured product.

Any help to any entertainment venue should have to be repaid via a 10% federal ticket tax by the venue and be fully secured by a federal ticket tax real property lien.

And so it begins, the transition to a full on fascist state where there is ostensibly private industry but it is hand selected and permitted to exist solely because the all-powerful government allows it to.

People call China communist. It's not, it's fasicist. Plenty of private industry there, just totally controlled by the government the same as it was in Nazi Germany and fascist Italy. And now, by crushing industry for nine months and then cherry picking which ones would be permitted to live (Hollywood, okay. Main street, Closed. Broadway, okay. etc) we are getting there next.

Make Hollywood and performing arts pay for their own shit.
Most people don’t have the time or money to even watch their crap!
They have more money than we will ever see.
Make them pay for their own NON ESSENTIAL businesses.

Fifteen billion would pay 200,000 people $75,000/year.

At $15/hour and 2,000 hours per year, $15 billion would pay 500,000 people $30,000/year.

By the time Wolf Trap and Tanglewood open for the summer, most possible customers will have gotten vaccinated.

I’m sure the unemployment compensation for a highly skilled musician is more than that of a retail worker.
