While orbiting the Moon on Apollo 8, Christmas Eve, December 24, 1968, William Anders said, "We are now approaching lunar sunrise and for all the people back on Earth, the crew of Apollo 8 has a message that we would like to send to you. "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness."

Don’t let Rat Party Headquarters see this post...you’ll be brought up on hate crime charges.
Even though I was only nine at the time, I did watch this live. My Dad, D-day and half of world war II vet, cried like a baby. It was then I realized that this was a VERY special moment.
I didn’t realize at the time what a Godless crap hole our country would become, and that moments like that will likely not happen again.
Thanks for a reminder on this bit of history.
I remember my Dad saying Apollo 8 was like a modern version of the Three Wise Men traveling to Bethlehem.
“While orbiting the Moon on Trayvon 8, Kwanza Eve, December 25, 2028, Dontavious Ohimbe said, “We are now approaching Antifa Orb sunrise and for all the people back on Earth, the crew of Trayvon 8 has a message that we would like to send to you. “In the beginning Obama created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of Obama moved upon the face of the waters. And Obama said, Let there be light and there was light. And Obama saw the light, that it was racist: and Obama divided the light from the darkness. And Y’all racists get back to work in the Bernie Sanders Memorial Gulag.”
I remember griping because I was on duty in the Army Christmas Eve ‘68. I was one of 4 manning a frequency monitoring station way out in the desert at Fort Huachuca Arizona making sure the NASA frequencies had no interruptions or trespassing signals to make trouble for the mission communications. Didn’t feel the importance of the time as I look back on now.
And God said, Let there be light and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good = 1776
(ויאמר אלהים יהי אור ויהי אור. וירא אלהים את האור כי טוב)
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. = 1776
(וירא אלהים את האור כי טוב ויבדל אלהים בין האור ובין החשך)
Sad to think that nowadays, they’d be vilified for saying that. NASA would cut off their audio signal.
Biden is King Herod.
Thank you for the beautiful songs!
From someone spending Christmas alone...
Merry Christmas!
I have to admit, Apollo 8 was one of the most on awe inspiring things I had ever seen. Hearing the astronauts reading from the book of Genesis makes me tear up.
I got a chance to hear all of the living Apollo astronauts on stage at the same time at Oshkosh Wisconsin back in 1994, which was the 25th anniversary of the moon landing.
The stories were hilarious... I remember them laughing at frank Borman because of his “gas” problem, although Jim Lovell made a remark that was not so funny at the time!
I also recall them talking about orbiting the moon on Christmas Eve, and as they came around the dark side of the and saw the earth rise for the 1st time, they were all entranced and sat there gaping at it until somebody realized that it was a historic moment and they all began scuttling around trying to get the cameras!
One thing that was pretty cool about that, as they were lecturing us in the open-air pavilion near the runway, it was dark because the sun had already gone down, and there was a great big huge roar behind us. Everyone turned around to look as the astronauts were talking in mid-sentence, and we saw a Concorde take off with all 4 engines in full after burner, sharp conical blue flames coming out the back of each engine exclamation!
You would think the astronauts would be irritated that everybody just started ignoring them in mid-sentence, but 1 of the astronauts said “That is OK, everybody turn around and take a look... We are watching too!”
Here were men who had traveled to the outer space and to the moon, flew combat missions in jet fighters, but the little aviation enthusiast Boy in each of them loved seeing the flames come out the back of that plane taking off!
Today, NASA would censor him and cut off the transmission.

Madalyn Murray O'Hair, founder of American Atheists, responded by suing the United States government, alleging violations of the First Amendment.[8] The suit was filed in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas. It was submitted to a three-judge panel, which concluded that the case was not a three-judge matter, and dismissed the case for failure to state a cause of action.[9] The direct appeal to the Supreme Court was dismissed for lack of jurisdiction.[10] Another appeal was heard before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, which affirmed the trial court's dismissal per curiam.[11] The Supreme Court declined to review the case
The most vivid and emotional moment of live TV I have ever experienced. The hair on the back of my neck still stands up and my eyes water every time I see a replay.
